Jake Quickenden sobbed after communicating with his late father’s ghost through a medium.
Making an appearance on an episode of Celebrity Help! My House Is Haunted, the former The X Factor contestant enlisted the help of a team of specialists.
Jake, 34, admitted to having experienced paranormal activity most of his life, particularly at night, and wanted to know if his home in Essex was haunted.
When Jake moved to his present house in Boxted in 2019, he felt that because it was a new construction, nothing would ever happen there, but he was incorrect.
He stated that the TV and lights will switch on and off on their own.
‘I actually really hope this place is haunted if I’m honest. I am a huge believer,’ he said.
Jake, a believer in the paranormal, had hoped the beings he saw were his deceased loved ones.
‘I’d like to think that it was people that are close to me that have passed,’ he explained.
‘Over 15 years ago I lost my dad, and then 10 years my little brother; he was only 19 when he passed.
‘I’m thinking that if there was anybody who would come visit me it would be those two.’
The team attempted to contact Jake’s late father Paul, who died from bone cancer in 2008, with the help of the professionals – dark arts specialist Ian Lawman, paranormal researcher and historian Jayne Harris, and investigator Barri Ghai.
Following a few initial remarks picked up by the team’s recorder, Ian inquired for the spirit’s name, to which they received the response: ‘Dad’s here.’
When the recording was played back, Jake became upset and was at a loss for words.
Jake, clearly frightened, requested that his father make himself known.
‘Dad, if you are here, can you please step forward,’ he said.
The recorder immediately chimed in again and said “dad.”
Jake had to leave the room because he was overcome with emotion.
‘He’s been trying to get that message through for ages,’ Ian shared.
During the episode, Jake recalled his previous existence as an English Civil War soldier and discovered that his property was constructed on the site of a violent fight in which at least 100 troops died.
Jake talked last year about the ‘raw’ pain he felt after his brother and father died within a few years of one other.
Four years after Paul’s death, his brother Oliver died in 2013 at the age of 19 after being diagnosed with bone cancer.
Jake highlighted how painful Christmas was for his family when speaking about his loss on GB News.
‘I lost my dad 13 years ago now. And then I lost my little brother ten years ago now,’ he said.
‘It seems like a long time, but having gone through that kind of loss and grief it stays quite raw.’
