The French Balayage suits just about anyone (Picture: L’Oréal)

We all know the power of a new hair do – it can give a much-needed confidence boost, mark a change in our lives, or simply serve as a fun switch up.

And if you want to try out some colour, from now until September, you can get £10 off French Balayage colour appointments with L’Oréal.

The brand’s recent research revealed over two-thirds of those surveyed agreed that getting their hair done professionally supports their mental health and wellbeing.

With that in mind, it has launched ‘eat out to help out’ for hair – based on the government-backed scheme introduced last summer to encourage more people to dine in restaurants.

Instead of food, you can claim £10 back from Balayage colour appointments across the entire summer until September 15.

For those new to Balayage, it’s about the way colour is applied rather than the colour itself.

Similar to highlights in the effect it gives the hair, the difference is that foils aren’t used. The hair colourist will hand paint the hair for a natural, graduated, and less uniform approach to colour.

All you need to do post-appointment is upload your receipt online to claim back the discount.

The focus is on Balayage as L’Oréal says that nearly half of all salon services are blonding treatments and searches for the colour technique rise every month.

71% of women say they prefer a natural look when it comes to colour, which this style can also cater to.

A successful balayage often needs a professional, as the skill required for an expert finish doesn’t make it DIY-friendly.

The brand calls it: ‘A seamlessly blended and freehand professional colour technique that offers a natural result’.

Over the last year we’ve all become accustomed to lower maintenance looks, which is why this style appeals to many as it can grow out without roots looking stark.

If you’re thinking of trying a subtle colour change, now’s your chance to get it that bit cheaper.
