Adele knew we needed some celebrity interaction last night, what with the global Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook outage, so she visited Twitter to lighten the mood.
The 33-year-old was among the stars reacting to the social networking sites being down and she gave us all a giggle as she responded to Twitter in her signature fashion.
As Twitter said hello to ‘literally everyone’ who had migrated to the app, Adele replied not with ‘Hello’, but with: ‘Hiya babes’, and it was the shot of endorphins we needed.
Fans freaked out that the multi-Grammy award winning artist had returned to Twitter for the first time since January, as well as accusing her of causing the social networking crash with speculation her new album is on its way.
Any of us who have been broken up with or experienced, well, any kind of hardship over the past six years have been waiting not so patiently for Adele to drop her fourth album, believed to be called 30, in tradition with her age-related album titles so far.
So when mysterious projections reading ’30’ popped up in locations worldwide including the US, France, Italy and Ireland, everybody was convinced that the queen of ballads is about to make her comeback.
While Adele hasn’t confirmed the 30 campaign is linked to her – but really, who else could it be? – speculation was further ramped up by the star’s Instagram overhaul yesterday.
Adele’s near-40million followers noticed that she changed her profile picture to a blurred teal image, signalling a new era reveal.
Tissues, white wine and Ben and Jerry’s at the ready, people.
Adele’s last album, 25, which included the singles Hello and When We Were Young, was released in 2015 and has sold a whopping 22 million copies, making it the fourth-best selling album of the 21st century.
It also won the Grammy for album of the year.
The star released her debut album 19 in 2008, with her sophomore effort 21 – featuring the singles Rolling In The Deep and Someone Like You – becoming the second best-selling album of all time and winning album of the year at the Grammys.
So, no pressure, 30.
While she hasn’t released music since 2016, Adele made a return to the spotlight earlier this year when she hosted Saturday Night Live and joked about her weight loss.
The mum-of-one has also recently gone public with her new man, sports agent Rich Paul, following her divorce from Simon Konecki being finalised.
