She likes to keep fans guessing as to when exactly she will end her five-year hiatus, but Adele’s musical return is certainly gathering pace.
Showing off her seven-stone weight loss while hosting US show Saturday Night Live in the autumn, the British powerhouse warned fans that a follow-up to 2015’s 25 wouldn’t be until next year at the earliest.
But now Pearl Jam drummer Matt Chamberlain has suggested Adele’s ‘powerful and emotive’ comeback is closer than she makes out after spending this week in the studio with her.
He said the 32-year-old, who bounces between Los Angeles and London, sounds as mesmerising as ever.
Describing what he witnessed at her recording session, the 53-year-old session musician said: ‘I just got to work on some new music for Adele, and to hear that voice in my headphones was getting me chills.
‘It was just so powerful and emotive. You know her voice, but to be across the room from somebody doing that, it’s just insane.
‘You hear it on the radio and you go, “Yeah, it’s really good”, but to be in the room with these people and feel that energy, it’s just so heavy.’
Letting slip as to where Adele is with her fourth album, he spilled: ‘She’s writing some new material with her songwriter Rick Nowels.
‘She wanted to do it with some drums and so we just put our masks on, she was in the room — yeah, holy s***.’
Adele recently insisted ‘I honestly have no idea’ as to when she would release something.
And after refusing to tease any music during her SNL stint in October, or play a snippet of her record, she posted: ‘I’m going back to my cave now to be the (single) cat lady that I am! Peace out til next year.’
The divorced mother-of-one shared the relationship status in her farewell after she was seen on dates with 38-year-old London grime star Skepta.
She needs to be Heard! Amber speaks out for $33,000 a time
Amber Heard is set to have her say — and for a tidy sum — in the wake of ex-hubby Johnny Depp losing his High Court ‘wife beater’ trial.
The 34-year-old actress has been hired as a public speaker by a New York agency, and can be booked through its website for a fee of $33,000 (£24,000).
The agency, Harry Walker, claims to be ‘the world’s leading speakers bureau’ and describes Amber’s talks as ‘a deeply moving call to action for everyone to do their part, wherever they may be, whatever their platform’.
Clients who book the Aquaman star will apparently be receiving ‘some much-needed inspiration from a woman who walks day-to-day looking to be a contribution’.
Meanwhile, Amber has broken her silence after her two-year marriage was dragged through the courts when Depp, 57, tried to sue The Sun.
The gory details included reports of the Hollywood star writing messages in blood after severing the top of his finger.
‘Nothing could have prepared me for 2020, let’s face it,’ she said. ‘I don’t think I’m alone in saying that.’
Lily had a Stranger get her Things
Lily Allen has defended her new husband’s performance in the sack… and spilled how she turned to a courier firm when her vibrators ran out of battery.
She says that since launching her own buzzer in collaboration with the Womanizer brand, fans assume Stranger Things actor David Harbour is unable to put a Smile on her face in the bedroom.
But she uses her sex toys when alone, explaining: ‘It’s got nothing to do with him. Giving myself pleasure has nothing to do with being able to get it from somewhere else.’
The mum-of-two also told how she used a delivery driver to pick up her kicks one lonely night in Hollywood. ‘My toys had run out of batteries and I didn’t have a charger,’ Lily, 35, told Megan Barton-Hanson’s podcast You Come First.
But when the driver turned up with her goods, ‘I didn’t know if I could see this person face to face’.
Some Mixed emotions as Jesy breaks her silence on exit
Jesy Nelson admits she has been left feeling ‘emotional’ by support from fans backing her bombshell decision to jack it in with Little Mix.
The 29-year-old broke her silence to thank all who applauded her decision earlier this week to leave the band after nine years. ‘I just want to say thank you so much to every one of you that has shown me so much love and support over the past few days,’ Jesy said on her Instagram story.
‘Some of your messages have made me feel so emotional and I appreciate it so much, love you all.’
Jesy blamed her departure on the ‘constant pressure’ of being in the quartet with Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
But fans immediately clocked she had wasted no time in unfollowing the band’s manager Samantha Cox. She also wiped any mention of Little Mix from her bio.
Liz Hurley has revealed her own drag name after signing up to RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The age-defying 55-year-old will be a guest judge on the second series of the hit BBC Three show when it returns on January 14.
Spilling what her own performer name would be if she gave it a crack, Liz answered: ‘Betty Bang Bang.’
She said she agreed to appear for her 18-year-old son Damian, adding: ‘My whole family is obsessed with the show and would have disowned me if I hadn’t said yes.’
