Alec Baldwin’s tweet about ‘wrongfully killing someone’ resurfaces after fatal prop gun shooting on Rust movie set

Alec Baldwin’s past tweet about ‘wrongfully’ killing another person has been unearthed by trolls after the actor accidentally fatally shot a crew member.

The 63-year-old actor fired off a prop gun on set of the western movie, Rust, in New Mexico on Thursday.

It hit cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, killing her at the age of 42, while the film’s director Joel Souza was also left injured. It has since been reported that the gun contained a live round.

In an attempt to shame the actor, Twitter users have brought his 2017 tweet back to the forefront in which he wrote: ‘I wonder how it must feel to wrongfully kill someone.’

The Pearl Harbor actor had been criticizing Southern California cop Eric Esparza who made headlines four years ago following a deadly confrontation with civilian, Dillan Tabares.

The Huntington Beach police officer had been struggling with the young man in front of a 7-Eleven store before drawing his gun and firing seven times. It was eventually determined that the officer acted unreasonably when he shot Tabares.

Thousands of Twitter users began to bring up Baldwin’s old tweet following his prop gun misfire as one wrote: ‘What u put into this Universe will always be what u receive in this Universe.’

However others instantly spoke out against such attacks as another commented: ‘This comment section needs to take a long look at itself in the mirror. This was a tragic accident that left someones loved one dead. And put a terrible pain on Alec’s heart for the rest of his life. Too soon people. Too soon.’

‘I feel really bad for you, Alec, that you have wrongfully killed someone & injured another, while they were working on your movie,’ another follower wrote. ‘You are all in my prayers. I hope you learn to be a better person to others who make mistakes in their lives.’

Production company Rust Movies Productions LLC addressed the incident in a statement, which read: ‘The entire cast and crew has been absolutely devastated by today’s tragedy, and we send our deepest condolences to Halyna’s family and loved ones.

‘We have halted production on the film for an undetermined period of time and are fully cooperating with the Santa Fe Police Department’s investigation.’
