Alex Reid is celebrating the joyful news of his fiancee’s pregnancy but it’s bittersweet as he is being forced to isolate away from her until she reaches six months.
The cage fighter, who was formerly married to Katie Price, confirmed his partner Nikki Manashe is expecting their first children together this week – the couple believe they are having twins as the mum-to-be’s hCG levels are particularly high.
It’s a breakthrough moment for the couple who have battled with fertility issues including four miscarriages in recent years.
However, it will be a while until they can celebrate the news together properly as Alex, 45, has been advised to stay away from Nikki due to her pregnancy being high-risk.
Nikki, 35, told the Mirror Online: ‘I’m completely by myself, it’s completely not safe for me to be near him either. Mentally it’s a struggle, but I’ve waited so many years for a baby, I can do this.
‘I think he’s struggling more than I am, to be completely honest. The structure, the routine, the comfort. I think men need women more than women need men. I’m a really independent person, so is he.’
The IVF blogger admitted the separation is a ‘big strain’ on their relationship as she is still so early in her pregnancy at just four weeks. It means she and Alex likely won’t be able to be close to each other until May but they are able to go on socially-distanced walks.

Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it. It’s official and I’m proud to say that @ivf_chasing_dreams is pregnant with my babies!!!! Her HCG pregnancy levels today are 366 which is high for one baby so it’s quite possible we are having twins! As she is a IVF blogger every moment has been shared to raise awareness and to give others hope and it has been her wish to announce today after getting off the phone to @hsfc_uk that she is officially 4 weeks and 1 day pregnant!!!! We have many many more hurdles to pass, one hospital visit at a time but today is a good day! She is a high risk pregnancy and extremely vulnerable isolating alone but she is as strong as a lion and we got this! My only prayers is to keep all 3 of you safe. I pray to god that my mum can last and stay alive to hold my new babies ?? Reid babies coming June/July 2021 ???? #dadtobe #pregnancyannouncement #pregnancy #twinpregnancyannouncement #twinningiswinning #ivfwarrior #ivfsuccess #ivfpregnancy www.ivfchasingdreams.com
Nikki continued: ‘I think the reason why he’s struggling so much is because, not only can he not see me, but his mum as well.
‘His mum’s in a care home with Alzheimer’s and he can’t see her because of Covid. She went into the care home in March, so he literally hasn’t seen her for so long, it’s always outside the window and he’s waving.
‘He’s really struggling. He’s trying to keep positive during this pregnancy.’
Alex announced the exciting news on Instagram on Tuesday with a photo of Nikki’s pregnancy test which simply confirmed: ‘Pregnant.’
‘Never give up on a dream just because of the time it will take to accomplish it,’ the former cage fighter told his followers.
He added: ‘We have many many more hurdles to pass, one hospital visit at a time but today is a good day!

In April, the pair opened up about their fertility struggles to Metro.co.uk and said they were halting their IVF plans due to the coronavirus pandemic.
