Amanda Holden fans in tears over emotional video for new single Home for Christmas

Fans were left reaching for the tissues after watching Amanda Holden’s touching video for her new holiday single Home For Christmas.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge, whose October solo release was the highest-charting debut for a British solo artist this year, unveiled the video to her 1.9 million Twitter followers this afternoon.

She said: ‘I wanted to celebrate cherishing the times that we can be together, whether that’s past, present or future. “Home” is love.’

The heartwarming video for the ballad opens with Amanda standing by a glowing Christmas tree, reflecting on the holiday season as she sings, ‘Careful what you say, this time of year tends to weaken me, and have a little decency and let me cry in peace.’

A tear-jerking tale of an elderly woman hoping to celebrate Christmas with her family is interspersed with shots of Amanda, her two lookalike daughters – and even her dog – as she sings plaintively about wanting to go home for Christmas.

We won’t spoil the ending, but you might want something to dab your eyes before clicking play.

Amanda’s fans were deeply moved, taking to the video’s comments to tell the star just how much the song meant to them.

Roland Burbridge commented: ‘WOW. Every hair on my neck was standing upright. All tingling. That was absolutely incredible Manda. It’s deffinately [sic] a hit with me!! XXXXXX.’

Another person didn’t even make it through the full tune before the waterworks started.

They wrote: ‘I’m crying already and I’m less than a minute in. Beautiful.’

A third fan told Amanda the tune made them miss their own mum.

Amanda might not have enough time to be homesick this Christmas, after a exclusive revealed Britain’s Got Talent will be hosting a festive special packed with ‘classic acts’.

The next series of the talent competition will begin filming in January with Simon Cowell back at the helm after seriously injuring himself in an electric bike accident earlier this year.
