Ant McPartlin is engaged to his girlfriend Anne-Marie Corbett after the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here host got down on one knee on Christmas Eve.
The Geordie star, 45, is said to have proposed with a ring he designed and chose himself after he asked Anne-Marie’s family for their blessing.
A rep for Ant told Metro.co.uk: ‘Ant and Amzie are delighted to announce their engagement. The proposal took place on Christmas Eve at home in a very romantic setting.’
A friend of the couple also told The Sun that Ant had been waiting for the right moment to pop the question to Anne-Marie, 43, after planning the proposal for some time: ‘Both Amzie and Ant adore Christmas, and get really into it every year, so Ant decided to pop the question on Christmas Eve.
‘He’s a traditionalist, so got down on one knee after first checking with Anne Marie’s family that he had their blessing. It was super-romantic, and obviously Anne-Marie said ‘yes’ straight away.
‘Obviously getting engaged in the midst of a pandemic isn’t ideal when it comes to planning a wedding… at the moment a summer ceremony is looking extremely unlikely, so it may well be a 2022 affair.’
Of course Ant’s bestie Declan Donnelly is said to be ‘thrilled’ about the news, and is expected to be his co-star’s best man on the big day.
Ant and Anne-Marie, who has two teenage daughters from a past relationship, started dating in 2018 following his split from Lisa Armstrong after 23 years together.
The former couple finalised their divorce in April after 18 months of discussions, including which of them would maintain custody of their dog.
Although Ant rarely speaks about his personal life in public, he did describe being at home with Anne-Marie as his ‘happy place’ to Jordan North during a trial on I’m A Celebrity.
