BBC Radio 1’s Greg James is done hearing this 2020 catchphrase – and so is everyone else

Greg James has revealed his most-hated catchphrase to come out of 2020 – and it’s ‘socially distanced, of course’.

The BBC Radio 1 DJ, 35, shared a TikTok video in which he told his followers: ‘I’m about to point something out and when I’ve done it there’s no going back. We’ve got a new catchphrase.’

Greg then shared some clips including Sara Cox saying: ‘If I was to go to a dinner party next week, socially distanced of course…’

Mocking the inclusion of ‘of course’, Greg then joked: ‘Just going for a beer with the lads – socially distanced of course! Fancy going for a walk? Socially distanced of course!’

He then yelled: ‘Stop saying “of course!”’

While the coronavirus vaccine has started to be distributed – something Greg’s over the moon about – it seems we’ll still have to keep practising socially distancing for some time to come… of course.

Following the news that the vaccine had been approved in the UK at the start of December, Greg danced and sang along to Alphabeat’s Fascination, changing the lyrics to ‘Vaccination’ instead.

After newsreader Roisin Hastie read out the news, she laughed: ‘I don’t think my news has ever had such an effect on you’, with Greg responding: ‘What great news!’

It will be a while before the population is fully vaccinated, with it being rolled out in stages, so the most vulnerable are protected first.

The over 80s are first in line to receive the vaccine, with GPs contacting people to book in to receive the two jabs, at least 21 days apart.

Despite the vaccine roll-out starting, it’s still important for the public to continue to follow Covid-safe guidelines, including wearing a mask, washing and sanitising hands and socially distancing… of course.
