Britney Spears made her hopes clear as she rocked a #FreeBritney T-shirt the day before a court hearing that could mark the end of her 13-year conservatorship.
The 39-year-old singer and her fiancé Sam Asghari proudly showed off their matching tops in another sign of appreciation for the movement started by her loyal fans.
A court hearing in Los Angeles today will see Judge Brenda Penny determine whether the pop superstar needs to remain under the court-appointed conservatorship, which she was placed under following her public breakdown in 2008.
In a video posted by Sam on Thursday, the Toxic singer could be seen dancing around while wearing a white shirt with the words ‘#FreeBritney. It’s a human rights movement’ emblazed in red.
‘Loading….’ the fitness enthusiast captioned the post, while tagging the location as: ‘Britney Spears “Work B***h”.’
Meanwhile, Sam was wearing the same item in black as the Me Against The Music hitmaker pointed to the statement on their shirts.
The Hacks actor also shared posts on his Instagram story in which he and the couple’s pet dog wore the shirts.
‘#FreeBritney’ is a popular fan movement, first used by a fansite in 2009, which has called for the end of Spears’s legal guardianship.
Fans hope that Friday’s hearing will see the end of the conservatorship, which Spears claimed has been controlling her life against her will in shocking testimony earlier this year.
Britney Spears’ attorney, her parents, and the court appointees who control the conservatorship all publicly support termination and it appears likely Judge Penny will dissolve the legal arrangement.
Jodi Montgomery, the conservator who oversees the singer’s life and medical decisions, has developed a care plan with her therapists and doctors to guide her through the end of the conservatorship and its aftermath.
However, legal or bureaucratic hurdles, or possible concerns over Spears’ medical care or finances, could slow down a potential end to the conservatorship.
