Bruce Willis’ wife Emma has revealed how their nine-year-old daughter Evelyn is assisting her father with his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.
The actor, 68, was diagnosed with dementia in February, about a year after his family publicised his initial aphasia diagnosis.
Since then, 44-year-old Emma and the rest of Bruce’s family have kept followers updated on his condition, but this most recent post may be the most moving yet.
Taking to social media this week, model Emma claimed she was going to try not to weep when she told her 833,000 Instagram followers about Evelyn’s gesture, but acknowledged she was a ‘puddle’ when her daughter conveyed the information.
The Make Time Wellness founder explained: ‘So I have to tell you this story, and I’m going to try and do it without crying.
‘Because when Evelyn told me this story, I was an absolute puddle.’
Evelyn, Emma continued, had searched up ‘interesting facts about dementia’ during her free time at school and discovered that people suffering from the ailment ‘may become very thirsty’.
‘Now, that’s not funny, but it’s sort of hilarious,’ Evelyn’s mother said. She is unquestionably her father’s child, since these two are obsessed with trivia.
‘So I said to her, “Evelyn, we will always make sure daddy has a bottle of water in hand. Thank you for letting me know. But that is the most loving and compassionate thing that you can do is to be curious and educate yourself on your dad’s disease”.’
Aside from Evelyn, Emma and Bruce are also proud parents to Mabel, 11, and the Die Hard star has three kids with Demi Moore: Rumer, 34, Scout, 31, and Tallulah, 29.
Evelyn’s older sister Scout praised her efforts, writing beneath Emma’s video, ‘Omg Evelyn!!!!!!!’ That anecdote sent me into a pool of tears.’
