Caitlyn Jenner has become the subject of ridicule after claiming that her friends are fleeing California over the sight of homeless people.
The Olympic medallist is campaigning to become the Governor of California and sat down with Fox News’ Sean Hannity to discuss her plans to overhaul the state.
However, her comments about California’s notorious and long-running homeless problem has raised eyebrows.
Speaking from her private plane hangar, Caitlyn claimed: ‘My friends are leaving California.
‘My hangar, the guy right across, he was packing up his hangar and I said, where are you going? And he says, “I’m moving to Sedona, Arizona, I can’t take it here anymore. I can’t walk down the streets and see the homeless”.’
She added: ‘I don’t want to leave, okay? Either I stay and fight, or I get out of here.’
Caitlyn’s anecdote stirred a negative reaction on social media, with one tweeting: ‘It takes a lot of balls to own multiple mansions and an airplane hanger and still B***h about the homeless.’
‘I’ll be honest, I was skeptical of Caitlyn Jenner’s run for governor until I heard her plan to get rid of the homeless to aesthetically please private jet owners,’ one quipped.
Mocking the situation, another said: ‘Has anyone checked on Caitlyn Jenner’s hangar neighbor? Did he make it to Sedona, Arizona? Has he avoided seeing the homeless?’
One other weighed in: ‘Does caitlyn jenner realize that a large percentage of homeless people in LA are trans people who are forced to the brutal margins because they’re not multi millionaires like her.’
‘Say what you will about Caitlyn Jenner, but her position that no wealthy person in this country should have to worry about whether their airplane hangar is free of homeless persons in sight is definitely bold,’ another said.
The 73-year-old’s campaign has got off to a rocky start so far as she also received backlash after saying that trans athletes born male shouldn’t play on girls’ sports teams.
Despite the backlash, Caitlyn later doubled down on her view and said she was ‘clear about where [she] stands’.
Sparking further criticism, the former Keeping Up With the Kardashians star later said that she is pro border control and supports ex President Donald Trump’s wall.
