Cheryl leaves house for ‘first time in months’ to support Billy Monger raising money for Comic Relief

Cheryl has returned to social media to give fans a rare update as she admitted it was the first time she had left her house in months.

The singer, 37, stepped out to support amputee racing driver Billy Monger and help him raise money for Comic Relief as he completes a 140-mile triathlon in four days.

Billy, 21, is taking part in a Big Red Nose Day Challenge which will see him walk, cycle and kayak from Gateshead to Brands Hatch over the course of this week.

Cheryl shared a video of herself in the car on the way to meet Billy as she told her followers: ‘So today is the first day I’ve actually been somewhere to work and I went to meet up with Billy Monger.

‘If you haven’t heard of him you should really go look him up, he’s an incredible 21-year-old who has been through a horrific accident.

‘He lost both of his legs when he was 17 and got straight back up and at them and did all the things he wanted to do, mind over matter.’

She added: ‘So if you can check him out I’ve put his Instagram handle on here, and I know you’re gonna love him as much as I do, he’s amazing. He’s doing it for Comic Relief, raising so much money.’

Cheryl then let Billy take over her Instagram to appeal for her followers’ support as the pair sat socially distanced across a table from each other outside.

Fans were over the moon to see Cheryl back on social media after she last posted in December 2020.

She urged her fans: ‘We thought we’d use this opportunity to say Billy is almost at the end of his challenge, he’s been incredible. We just need some support, please donate.’

Fans are also hoping to see a lot more of Cheryl to come, as it was reported that she is being lined up for a return to the X Factor judging panel when the show returns in 2022.
