Chris Evans has announced that he is now 90 days sober and ‘feeling terrific’ while he battles skin cancer.
The 57-year-old broadcaster confirmed his skin cancer diagnosis on his Virgin Media radio programme last month, eight years after being given the all-clear following a prostate cancer scare in 2015.
At the time, he acknowledged that the cancer had been discovered in its early stages and that he expected a full recovery.
Chris has now provided an update on his choice to embrace sobriety, revealing that he and wife Natasha Shishmanian, 43, have been alcohol-free for three months.
He posted a photo of them on Instagram on Friday after they earned their Alcoholics Anonymous Green Chips.
The duo could be seen smiling in the snap, each holding up a Green Chips over an eye.
He captioned the post: ‘90 days sober. Feels f#%^*$€ great for SO many reasons. #selfcare > purpose/higher power>in service of others.’
Chris announced last month that he and his wife had just stopped drinking after understanding that alcohol dulled his life.
He’s spoken about his attempts to reduce or remove alcohol over the years, stating on his programme two years ago that he was omitting it from his diet mid-week and even giving it up to raise money for charity on one occasion.
Meanwhile, Chris revealed in his autobiography, Call The Midlife, that he once went to Alcoholics Anonymous to talk about the effects of his drinking.
‘Do I drink too much, do I have anything to worry about? [I discussed] all of these things that play on my mind,’ he wrote.
Chris recently stated that he’d been diagnosed with skin cancer eight years after being given the all-clear, but that it’s ‘as curable as cancer can possibly be’.
Following prostate cancer tests, he was given the all-clear in 2015.
He has been married to Natasha, a former pro golfer and ex-model, since 2007, with whom he has a 14-year-old son Noah, a 10-year-old son Eli, and four-year-old twins Walt and Boo.
