Chris Evans fans lose it over idea Avengers star is a Nicki Minaj Barb as he stars in massive Netflix film

Marvel star Chris Evans has got pulses racing today which should come as no real surprise – it’s what he does – however the topic of which he’s currently trending may.

You see, as the Avengers actor revealed his latest gig, starring in what is arguably one of Netflix’s biggest films, he also suggested he was a massive Barb – if his fans have anything to say on the matter, anyway.

Sharing the news he would be starring alongside the likes of Bridgerton’s Rege-Jean Page and Knives Out co-star Ana de Armas in The Gray Man, Chris reshared a casting sheet to his Instagram Stories, originally uploaded by AGBO films.

He could have left it there and just moved on, perhaps added a little gif of him in a white, cable-knit sweater to get us all hot under the collar.

He could have. But what did he do instead? He ruddy shared the news to the backing of Nicki Minaj’s Yikes, apparently outing himself as a big ol’ Barb if Twitter and the whipsmart speed of which his name began trending is to be believed.

For those who aren’t up with the lingo of the cool kids (spoiler, that is not the lingo of the cool kids) a Barb is the name given to a Nicki Minaj fan, which in plural is Barbz.

And you better bet the fans were noticing his little song drop and were getting all kinds of feverish as they shared their thoughts on social media.

One emotional fan wrote: ‘The fact that Chris Evans used a Nicki Minaj song on his story is taking me the f**k out. I ain’t know he was a Barb.’

They were joined by one who praised their ‘baby’ Chris Evans: ‘Not my baby chris evans being a barb. he’s got taste, it’s true.’

However there is always one fan that is going to burst the bubble we were all riding in, as one pointed out: ‘He didn’t pick that song, it’s a repost so the song comes from the original story by agbofilms.’

But he, like, could have not picked the song, right?

Another mourned: ‘I was like “Chris evans a barb??” But no he’s just reposting.’

Either way, we can all celebrate The Gray Man announcement, as we were blessed with news on the Russo Brothers’ upcoming action-thriller for the streaming giant.

The espionage flick follows a former CIA operative turned freelance assassin named Court Gentry (played by Ryan Gosling) – who is also known as The Gray Man – who is hunted across the globe by his former CIA cohort Lloyd Hansen (our ‘baby’ Chris Evans).

Ana, Wagner Moura, Jessica Henwick, Dhanush and Julia Butters also make up the cast, alongside Bridgerton’s Rege-Jean, because how many stars can you fit in a movie? It’s infinite.

Shooting was delayed due to the Covie-19 pandemic, but is due to kick off in the coming weeks.

The Russo brothers – Anthony and Joseph Russo – previously confirmed that the movie will launch a franchise.

Joe said: ‘What we’re doing on Gray Man that’s different [is] … we’re not gonna answer every question in the first movie. This is being conceived as a series of films, and again, potentially branching out, we could follow other characters, but we’re not gonna answer every question in the movie.

‘So you’re gonna finish the movie, [and] have a complete story, but you’re still gonna have questions about the wider universe. And I think that’s one way to break the model a little bit, is to not give the audience everything in one film. Don’t have a close-ended narrative. Have an open-ended narrative that’s [like] a chapter in a book.’
