David Beckham has ignored the haters who claim it’s ‘weird’ he kisses his child on the lips as he shared a snap of himself with daughter Harper Seven.
The footballer, 46, took 10-year-old Harper for a walk in a park on Friday where the pair shared a peck on the lips as they enjoyed some daddy-daughter time.
In a post on Instagram, the former England star shared two photographs: one of the father and daughter smiling at the camera, and another of them sharing a sweet kiss.
David wore a peaked cap and a coat against the January chill, while Harper bundled up in earmuffs reminiscent of a certain Star Wars princess.
Captioning the post, David wrote: ‘Daddy & Princess Leia had a lovely walk this morning 🥶’.
While most would look at the picture and see nothing other than a father and his young child innocently sharing their affection for each other, some in the comment section branded the footballer ‘weird’ for still kissing his child.
One person wrote: ‘She is your daughter not your wife or gf,’ while another said it was ‘bad to kiss your daughter’.
Another even suggested that to kiss your child on the lips is ‘vile’, while one replied to Victoria Beckham’s comment of heart emojis bizarrely demanding she make David stop kissing their daughter.
However, plenty more rushed to David’s defence, with one woman writing that she, as a grown adult, still kisses her 81-year-old father on the lips.
She said: ‘Not everything has to be sexualised, if that’s people’s first thought then the world has gone mad!!’
Another agreed: ‘It’s totally normal and a loving gesture!’, while one claimed ‘If you think there’s something wrong with it, it’s your own mind that is messed up!’.
It’s not the first time David has stood firmly against the trolls who suggest it’s weird to kiss your own child: in 2019, he affectionately kissed his daughter on the lips while on a daddy-daughter date to the Lionesses’ quarter final match against Norway.
He had also previously hit back at trolls previously by kissing Harper in a cute Instagram video, leading to Piers Morgan going on a rant on Good Morning Britain.
Piers had called David ‘creepy’ and ‘weird’, asking ‘why would a father kiss his daughter on the lips? Don’t get it.’
The football legend kissed Harper at the match just days after Piers had branded him a weirdo to the nation.
David – who is also dad to Brooklyn, 22, Romeo, 19, and 16-year-old Cruz with wife Victoria – previously defended kissing his kids back in 2017 amid the initial backlash.
Speaking on an Instagram live, the former Man United ace said: ‘I kiss all my kids on the lips. Brooklyn, maybe not. Brooklyn’s 18, he might find that a little bit strange.
‘I’m very affectionate with the kids. It’s how I was brought up and Victoria, and it’s how we are with our children.’
