Demi Lovato was seen remembering her close friend and former Glee co-star Naya Rivera during a recent hike.
The singer, 28, starred alongside Naya, who was best known for playing Santana Lopex on the hit Fox series, during season five as her girlfriend Dani.
Five months after Naya’s death – the actress died aged 33 after going missing at Lake Piru in California in July – Demi was seen paying tribute to her pal, giving a nod to their time together on Glee as she did so.
During a scenic hike, Demi stopped to film the sunset and revealed she was missing Naya, as she captioned the short clip: ‘Miss you @nayarivera.’
The video included the song Here Comes The Sun by The Beatles – the same song that was playing during one Glee scene that saw Demi and Naya’s characters fall in love while working in diner.
Demi had starred alongside Naya on the show for four episodes, before continuing her music commitments with her The Neon Lights tour.
The Confident hit-maker had been one of the first stars to pay tribute to Naya, following her death. Again, remembering their time onscreen together, Demi wrote at the time: ‘RIP Naya Rivera. I’ll forever cherish the opportunity to play your girlfriend on Glee.
‘The character you played was groundbreaking for tons of closeted queer girls (like me at the time) and open queer girls, and your ambition and accomplishments were inspiring to Latina women all over the world. My heart goes out to your loved ones at this time.’
Naya had disappeared at Lake Piru after renting a pontoon boat with her son Josey Dorsey, five, who she shares with ex-husband Ryan Dorsey.
Josey was found alone on the boat, with authorities launching a search operation to find Naya.
Her body was recovered several days later on July 13, Naya’s death being confirmed on the anniversary of the death of her former Glee co-star Cory Monteith.
It was later confirmed that Naya had died from accidental drowning.
She landed her breakthrough role in Glee in 2009 and starred on the show for all six seasons. Her former co-stars were seen remembering Naya in the wake of her death, with Glee creators setting up a college fund for the star’s young son.
