Demi Lovato had ‘five to ten minutes’ to live after having three strokes and heart attack amid 2018 overdose

Demi Lovato is set to discuss her 2018 overdose and her road to recovery in her upcoming documentary, in which she revealed the near-fatal incident caused her to have multiple strokes and a heart attack.

The singer, 28, unveiled the trailer for Demi Lovato: Dancing With The Devil on Wednesday, which promises to give a no-holds-barred account of the darkest time in her life in 2018.

Demi revealed that she cheated death by minutes, saying in the trailer: ‘I had three strokes, I had a heart attack. My doctors said that I had five to ten more minutes.

“I’ve had a lot of lives, like my cat, you know? I’m on my ninth life. I’m ready to get back to doing what I love, which is making music.

‘I’m not living my life for other people or their headlines or their Twitter comments.’

Demi’s friends and family are also seen discussing the terrifying experience of seeing her blood being filtered through a machine, her oxygen levels dropping dangerously low as well as her complaining that she could not see.

The Confident star almost died in July 2018 when she was rushed to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after having an opioid overdose at her home in Los Angeles.

Prior to her relapse three months before her overdose, she had been sober for six years and she later told Ellen DeGeneres that her struggles with bulimia had contributed to her returning to drugs as she was extremely unhappy.

Demi was hospitalised for two weeks before entering an inpatient rehab facility to continue her recovery.

In December of 2018 she spoke out to dispel rumours about her overdose, promising to tell her fans the whole story one day in the future.

Demi Lovato: Dancing With The Devil will premiere on YouTube on March 23.
