YouTuber Derrick Jaxn has filmed a bizarre video which sees him reacting to his own cheating confession, and saying that he ‘applauds’ himself for ‘taking accountability’.
The self-proclaimed relationship expert, who has a following of 750,000 on YouTube and 1.3million on Instagram, shocked fans by admitting on camera, with his wife Da’Naia by his side, that he had cheated on her.
The new video, which begins with a three-minute clip of Jaxn watching back his video, sees the YouTuber urge women not to put him on a ‘pedestal’, and praise his own past content for helping a ‘tremendous amount of people’.
He explained the upload by saying: ‘When I looked in the comments of this video, I don’t know if old boy was trolling or not, but he said, “D, I think I wanna see your reaction to this video.” So let’s do it. And by the way, I’m gonna speak in third person.’
After explaining his own situation in third person, Jaxn said of himself: ‘As far as what he said, I understand and I completely applaud him taking accountability, because too many times we see dudes and they’ve got this sob story about how they were raised and their broken home […].
‘He didn’t do that, he just took accountability,’ he continued. ‘I hope he understands that all the accountability in the world is not going to rebuild broken trust. Not on a personal level, and even with the public that he’s addressing.’

He went on to say that he can ‘personally relate to’ aspects of the situation, and added that it’s a ‘great example’ of why we shouldn’t put anyone on a pedestal.
‘I think a lot of women did that,’ he mused. ‘I’m not gonna say it’s the women’s fault by themselves, because this dude – he never really showed his struggle. We understand, we’re all humans and we all make mistakes, but he never showed those mistakes, not for real.’
‘I’ve seen a lot of women put this dude on a pedestal to the point of idealising him and even comparing their man to him,’ he asserted. ‘They’ll compare their man’s good, bad, and ugly, whole story, to Derrick Jaxn’s snippet, which of course is a standard nobody can meet consistently.’
While he acknowledged that some people will want to ‘cancel’ him, Jaxn said he’s ‘more so on the side of his wife in letting this be a new chapter in how I see him.’
‘I do believe that his content over the years has helped a tremendous amount of people,’ Jaxn continued. ‘He tells the truth, he speaks facts and, quite honestly, I’mma be real with you all, I’ve needed several new chapters in my own life, Lord knows, and I’m not ashamed to say it.
Jaxn, who shared a discount link to his latest book release in the video description, finished the video by saying: ‘But I’m no guru, those are just my thoughts.’
He went on to urge people to let him know their thoughts in the comments. The comments on the video have since been turned off.
In Jaxn’s previous video, he admitted to cheating on his wife, saying: ‘The truth is, and I’m saying it here now, is that Derrick Jaxn was involved with other women outside the marriage. And by involved, I want to be clear, I’m not talking about just casually kicking it, maybe having lunch or something like that.
‘I’m talking about as serious as sex, to sexual flirtation and meeting up and that kind of thing, and some things that otherwise may be considered by some, in terms of just chatting or checking on people or being checked on by people that I’ve had a previous encounter with, but without my wife’s knowledge of it and with us having a sexual history, all of it falls under the umbrella of inappropriate, cheating, affairs, stepping out.
‘Definitely not in alignment with the vows that I took and definitely not in the line with the biblical standard of what it means to be faithful.’
Getting her chance to tell her side of the story, Da’Naia, who has two children with her husband, said: ‘There is no justification for bringing other women into our marriage, on any level, it was unacceptable and it’s not something that I tolerate or we tolerate moving forward.’
