Joey Essex and James ‘Arg’ Argent were stranded in Dubai after the desert city experienced the heaviest rainfall on record.
The TV stars who rose to fame on The Only Way Is Essex were stranded when a year’s worth of rain fell in Dubai on Tuesday, causing total chaos.
In 24 hours, the city received 5.59 inches of rain, causing flooding and debris to cover vital roads and runways at airports, leaving the celebrity couple scrambling to find a taxi to get home.
Joey, 33, claimed he and Arg, 36, ‘decided to hitchhike after hours of trying to get back home.’
The Celebs Go Dating star’s video showed him saying, ‘Hitchhiking, we have no choice.’ In the video, Arg, who recently revealed that he was attempting to gain weight after losing 14 stone, extends his arm to hail a cab on a flooded road.
The next photo showed the couple walking through the flooded streets with the caption, ‘After hours of looking for a taxi and hitchhiking on the streets of Dubai.
‘We have now decided to take the next step… operation survival.’

Joey rolled up his trousers and walked through the submerged streets barefoot, preferring to save his new white trainers.
Joey could be heard shouting: ‘Nah, nah this ain’t even funny mate.
‘Dubai, what the f**k.’

The Dancing on Ice star put his £3 million Essex mansion on the market last year, and it is believed he has now relocated to Dubai permanently.
A source told The Sun at the time, ‘Joey has started house-hunting in Dubai. He is planning to buy a base out there so he can jet off whenever he likes.
‘Joey will be splitting his time between his home in Essex and his new place in Dubai.
‘He loves the lifestyle out there and feels completely safe.’

The bad weather has affected people all over Dubai, causing walls and ceilings to collapse and flooding to affect nearly every mode of transportation in and around the city.
According to BBC reports, the Dubai Mall is in danger of collapsing, and cars are being abandoned on flooded roads that have become impassable.
While the storm and torrential rain have subsided, the aftermath will last for some time as the city recovers.
