Emily Blunt has revealed that due to her children’s extended stay in the UK, they have started to sound more English – and she’s very excited about it.
Blunt has two children with The Office and Jack Ryan star John Krasinski, where they usually reside in the US. Hazel, six, and Violet, four, have been spending time in London with their family since August though.
This has lead to the couple’s two daughters speaking in stronger and stronger accents.
Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel on Thursday, Blunt was clearly excited about the development.
She revealed her daughters had been attending school in person, saying: ‘They’ve been in a proper school with school uniforms, and miraculously, they’re sounding quite British, which I’m completely over the moon about.
Blunt revealed that her youngest daughter, in particular, has really picked up the dialect, saying, ‘[Someone] sent a video of [my little one] singing ‘Jingle Bells’, and she goes, Jaingle ol’ the woy, almost like a Cockney.;
‘It was almost like Dick Van Dyke singing ‘Jingle Bells’. The craziest accent ever – it was kind of brilliant.’
Coincidentally, Blunt’s own accent has been a topic of discussion recently, at least in her new film Wild Mountain Thyme, The actress, alongside Jamie Dornan, came underfire for their heavy west of Ireland accents on social media.
Elsewhere, Blunt is returning in A Quiet Place 2, but the film’s release has continued to be pushed back in the face of the coronavirus pandemic. The film is not scheduled to land until April 23, 2021 now.
However, a spin-off of the film has been confirmed to be in the works.
