Emma Roberts has shared the first picture with her son Rhodes.
The 29-year-old welcomed her first child last month with boyfriend Garrett Hedlund, with TMZ reporting that she gave birth on December 27.
Now, Emma has confirmed her arrival, as well as her son’s full name.
The Scream 4 actress shared a picture to Instagram of herself cradling her son, with the baby’s face turned away from the camera.
The newborn was wearing a beige hat and was wrapped in an orange blanket, while his mum matched in an orange dress and coordinating mules.
Emma captioned the picture: ‘Thank you 2020 for getting one thing right ☀️ Our bright light Rhodes Robert Hedlund.’
The star’s celebrity friends left messages of congratulations, with Ashley Benson writing: ‘I love you em. Sooo happy for you’ and Reese Witherspoon commenting: ‘Oh baby!! Congrats!!’
Ashley Tisdale, who is pregnant with her first child, commented: ‘I just liked it twice!!! ❤️❤️ Congrats beautiful’, while Emma’s Scream Queens co-star Billie Lourd, who welcomed a baby boy last year, left a string of emoji hearts.
Emma confirmed in August that she and Garrett, 36, were expecting a baby boy, as she shared a picture of her bump with the caption: ‘Me…and my two favourite guys.’
The star since kept her fans updated on her pregnancy with plenty of bump pictures on social media, and became the first pregnant cover star of Cosmopolitan.
In the magazine, Emma – whose aunt is Julia Roberts – explained that she always wanted to have a baby, but had to freeze her eggs after being diagnosed with endometriosis a few years ago, after switching to a female doctor.
She said: ‘Finally, there was validation that I wasn’t being dramatic. But by then, it had affected my fertility. I was told, “You should probably freeze your eggs or look into other options.”’
Emma said the process was ‘difficult’ but she got her eggs frozen – before finding out she had conceived naturally.
The Unfabulous star said: ‘It sounds cheesy, but the moment that I stopped thinking about it, we got pregnant.
‘But even then, I didn’t want to get my hopes up. Things can go wrong when you’re pregnant. That’s something you don’t see on Instagram.
So I kept it to myself, my family, and my partner, not wanting to make grand plans if it wasn’t going to work out. This pregnancy made me realise that the only plan you can have is that there is no plan.’
Thankfully, little Rhodes has arrived safe and well.
Emma and Garrett began dating in 2019, shortly after Emma split from Evan Peters after a five-year engagement.
Country Strong star Garrett was previously engaged to Kirsten Dunst, who he dated between 2012 and 2016.
