Love Island star Lucie Donlan has revealed her ordeal with vile death threats, which forced her to make a police complaint.

The reality star appeared on the ITV2 dating series in 2019, however she said that abuse has ramped up recently which has seen her receiving a death threat each day.

Lucie said: ‘It’s actually been worse recently than when I came out of the villa.

‘I think because everyone is just at home on their phones. At points I’ve had one [death threat] every day, and it is the same people, so I have reported them to the police.

‘It’s made me really anxious. When I came off the show, I was so busy that I never really had time to look at my phone. But this year it felt much harder to escape the comments. It was so hard for me and my family. Luckily they and my boyfriend were so supportive.’

She told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: ‘I think the best thing you can do after Love Island is find your own path, do what makes you happy, and have the best people around you that you possibly can.’

Lucie – who is dating Winter Love Island star Luke Mabbott – revealed she has turned to her pal and former co-star Maura Higgins for advice.

She said: ‘I’m lucky, I’ve got great people around me. As well as my family and boyfriend, Maura is great to talk to because she’s so strong.’

It comes after Sharon Gaffka – star of the 2021 series who was booted from the villa last week – implored trolls to stop sending her threats.

Forced to speak out about the horrible abuse she’s been sent in a bid to make it stop, she said on Instagram: ‘I’m starting to get more violent ones [messages] and I need to say put a stop to it, because at the end of the day, it’s a person you’re sending this message to, not a character on a TV show.

‘I’m never going to retaliate to these messages. I’m never going to send you anything horrible back.

‘I just want to say that I’m in a very good position and I’m very f*cking lucky that ITV are incredible, have been insane since I left the villa and I’m sure I can speak for every islander when saying that.’

Sharon continued: ‘I have amazing friends, a very strong family support and I’m really fortunate that I have that. But you don’t know if the person you’re sending those messages to, if they have that.’

She warned that trolling could have ‘very horrible consequences and repercussions’.

Sharon’s plea comes just weeks after Chloe Burrows’ family said she had been inundated with death threats following her recoupling which sent Shannon Singh home.

Love Island returns 9pm on ITV2.
