Gemma Collins revealed her dad, Alan, is recovering slowly after being hospitalised with coronavirus.
The Towie star previously shared her heartache when her father, 72, contracted Covid, explaining that he was ‘fighting for his life’.
Taking to Instagram, the 39-year-old shared a snap of herself and what appeared to be a small white pony, posing in front of a mansion.
In a lengthy caption, she opened up about his illness, as she prepared for her 40th birthday on Sunday.
‘As I approach turning 39+1 tomorrow I am reflecting on what an incredible life I have had so far,’ she began.
‘I will deliver my full speech tomorrow but I am overwhelmed with the troves of gifts arriving I’m just so excited to open them all!
‘I’ve seen Versace parcels Gucci parcels Chanel parcels so thank you I will find out who’s sent them tomorrow but the biggest gift of all is my dad who is recovering slowly and things are looking positive small steps but he’s getting stronger daily! X.’
Fans were quick to flood Gemma’s post with early birthday wishes, celebrating her dad’s health update.
An Instagram user replied: ‘This is wonderful news Gemma about your dad, and well said!!’
‘So glad your dad is getting better, my father inlaw was in icu for 3 weeks its just so awful. Have a fabulous birthday x [sic],’ another penned.
A follower replied: ‘Such good news huni [sic].’
While one said: ‘Hope u have a fab 40th hun so glad your dad is on mend hun.’
Gemma previously explained that she had the most ‘awful Christmas and New Year’ – in a recent episode of her podcast, The Gemma Collins Podcast – as both of her parents contracted coronavirus.
‘My dad is still in hospital now – he’s literally been fighting for his life, so it has been one awful time of it,’ she told listeners.
‘Things are so difficult, and it’s kind of relentless at the minute with everything going on.
‘I’m finding myself juggling so many plates at the minute, and it’s been a real shock to myself and my family with my dad being in hospital because he’s the one that kind of looks after us all – and has always been the strong one in the family.
‘So, it’s all on me – and basically I don’t mind because, you know, things don’t always go to plan in life.’
