George Clooney reveals why he didn’t want to give kids ‘weird-a**’ names and instead chose something normal

George Clooney has revealed why he decided to stick with more traditional and relatively normal names for his children, instead of plucking out something quirky like so many celebs tend to do.

It’s not unusual for a celebrity to surprise you when it comes to their moniker of choice for their kids and we’ve had some pretty unusual names crop up already, like Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter Apple and Cardi B’s little girl Kulture.

Kim K went against the norm with her children’s names, opting for North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm, while her brother Rob chose to name his daughter Dream.

George, however, wasn’t such a fan of finding something unique – joking that his kids will ‘have enough trouble’ having a Hollywood star for a father.

He is dad to twins Alexander and Ella, three, who he shares with wife Amal Clooney.

Speaking to AARP magazine, George said: ‘I didn’t want, like, weird-a** names for our kids.’

Asked why, he teased: ‘They’re already going to have enough trouble. It’s hard being the son of somebody famous and successful.’

Long known for being one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors, the movie star finally embraced family life after tying the knot with Amal in 2014.

The couple welcomed their twins in 2017 and it seems like George has taken to his daddy duties like a duck to water – albeit having some fun along the way.

Last month, George revealed that he’s managed to teach his children to pretend to eat their own poo as a funny prank.

Opening up about his children in an interview with People, George joked: ‘They both have learned to play pranks, which is good fun. I did work with them on putting Nutella in a diaper and then eating it.’

‘Whenever a stranger is around, they’ll come in holding it, like, “Papa, it’s a dirty nappy!” and I go, “Okay, I’ll take care of it”, and then they eat the Nutella out of the nappy,’ George explained.

‘You can imagine the freak-outs we get… Yeah, I taught them that.’

He added that lockdown has given him the opportunity to spend more time at home with his son and daughter, but he had planned to do so anyway after deciding to reduce his workload.

The Ocean’s Eleven star said: ‘I haven’t been working as much as I had before we had the kids, so I had every intention of focusing on them [anyway], putting them to bed at night and stuff, so we didn’t need to be forced into that by a pandemic.’

Fans recently saw George star in sci-fi film The Midnight Sky that was released on Netflix in December.

He is also tipped to serve as an executive producer on a new Buck Rogers TV series, with bosses hoping to branch out into films depending on the series’ success.
