Dawn French continued to be the coolest as she embraced her grey hair by revealing a bold transformation.

Dawn, 63, sported her trademark short bob in her natural shade of light brown in a selfie posted on Instagram on Thursday. In a follow up photo the actor wore a big grin as she lifted up her hair to reveal a stylish undercut underneath that displayed her grey hair.

The comedian unveiled her new look on social media with a confident message about changing her look to go with the natural process of ageing.

She said: ‘Going lighter bit by bit to happily welcome the grey…with an undercut surprise..! Hello there woman in her 60s….’

The star of The Trouble With Maggie Cole has always been body confident, and opened up about her recent weight gain last year declaring she ‘doesn’t give a f**k’.

During an episode of her podcast Titting About alongside best pal and co-star Jennifer Saunders, she recalled being told by a doctor to go on a diet before an operation, eventually dropping seven and a half stone.

‘I’ve gone back to being an entire barrel but do you know what? I’m going to be 63 this year, I don’t give a f**k,’ she told her co-host. ‘I really don’t, so long as I can walk…

‘I’m not going to be stingy to myself anymore.’

Dawn also insisted that she has never ‘disliked’ anything about her body at any point – and refused to be forced to do so.

‘I never did dislike anything really about my body, even when I was very, very fat,’ the author continued. ‘I refuse to be forced to dislike myself.

‘In fact, I used to get really angry when I did lose weight, of people going, “You look so well,” as if you looked awful before…

‘Rewarding you for managing it, which is not easy, I accept that.

‘But I didn’t want people to give me approval. It’s so patronising.’
