David Corenswet – best known for his appearances in HBO’s We Own This City and Netflix’s The Politician, will take over as Superman in place of Henry Cavill.
Meanwhile, Marvellous Mrs. Maisel’s Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane in the next Superman: Legacy film.
David, 29, and Rachel, 32, allegedly beat out Nicholas Hoult, Phoebe Dynevor, and Emma Mackey for the roles.
The signings were presumably hastened since an actors strike is expected to begin on June 30.
The casting was first reported by Deadline, but DC Entertainment President James Gunn quickly confirmed it on Twitter.
He tweeted: ‘They are not only both incredible actors, but also wonderful people.’

Henry, 40, announced his departure from the Superman franchise in December.
After making a surprise cameo in the end credits of Dwayne Johnson’s anti-hero film Black Adam, the British actor stated in October that he will be formally reprising the character.
However, he left almost as swiftly as he came back, with new DC Studios bosses James and Peter Safran making the daring decision to recruit a new Superman for the future episodes.
Accurate! (They are not only both incredible actors, but also wonderful people). https://t.co/1FtwYIDeYj

Sharing the news in an Instagram post, Henry explained: ‘I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman.
‘After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.
‘The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that.’
After explaining that James and Peter had a new ‘world to establish’ after taking over as studio heads, Henry wished them and the crew ‘the greatest of success and the happiest of fortunes’.
‘For those who have been at my side through the years, we may mourn for a time, but then we must remember…. Superman is still there,’ he said.
‘Everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he sets for us are still there! My turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman stands for never will.’
