Holly Hagan has vowed to be more ‘transparent’ on social media and ditch posts that show her posing with her body unrealistically.
The reality star, 28, famed for appearing on MTV series Geordie Shore, took to Instagram with an unconventional ‘not a before and not an after’ post, while calling out influencer culture on the social media platform.
Holly shared a picture of her meticulously posing with her body at the right angle, her hips tucked in and her underwear pulled up to accentuate her small waist.
Breathing in for the first snap, Holly, who is engaged to footballer Jacob Blyth, then shared another of her much more relaxed.
She explained in a lengthy caption that she’s determined to be more realistic with her followers, after only ever choosing to share posed pictures on her page.
Holly admitted that she ‘hasn’t enjoyed’ Instagram for a long time because of the pressure that comes with looking ‘insta ready’ and lacking confidence to share more meaningful content on her grid.
She wrote: ‘HOW TO LOSE 7LB IN 10 SECONDS! LOL just kidding ? The left is me posed breathing in, hips tilted back and of course my knickers pulled as high as possible! The right is me relaxed, hips tilted forward and knickers in a more comfortable position ?.’
Holly continued: ‘This year I promised to try to be more transparent with my photos and content. I only EVER show posed pics. And tbh I haven’t enjoyed Instagram for a long time because I’m never “insta ready”.
‘I love insta stories, I love Q&As I love giving content that either helps someone or means something. So I really need to bring that to the grid but I’d never had the confidence. I just wanted people to see me looking my best 100% of the time after fighting for years to not be “the fat one” you’re kinda scared to look anything other than your best.’
Reminding fans that Instagram isn’t always what it seems, Holly concluded: ‘But nobody looks how they do on Instagram all of the time. We can’t pose breath in tilt hips 24 hours a day. So when you see someone on insta who you’re envious of remember it’s all smoke and mirrors ✨.’
Holly was praised by her followers for her honest post, with one commenting: ‘I LOVE LOVE LOVE this Holly! Thank you for showing your followers your beautiful body from all its angles. You’ll be helping a lot of young impressionable teens ??.’
Another said: ‘Love this @hollygshore ! Beautiful in both and love the caption ?.’
Many more reassured the star that she looked ‘unreal’ in both pictures she had shared.
Holly shot to fame on Geordie Shore when she was 18 years old in 2011. She was one of the series’ long-standing castmembers and decided to quit the show five years later in 2016.
Fans recently saw Holly star in Geordie Shore OGs, where she opened up on how her life was changed by the series and the fame that came with it – admitting that it took awhile for the cast to be accepted by the public, despite the show’s success.
‘We went through so much on Geordie Shore, out of all the reality TV shows, we did get it the worst,’ she exclusively told Metro.co.uk last year.
‘I didn’t really leave the house for two years, I wouldn’t go and get my nails done by myself because I was terrified of people saying things to me in the street. I’ve had bottles thrown at me. We’ve been through a hell of a lot… I didn’t really have a choice but to cope, you just have to get on with life.’
‘You’ve just got to keep going and empathise with [the trolls],’ Holly insisted. ‘No happy, confident person would ever be doing this to another person.’
