Naga Munchetty has become a staple of many people’s mornings, presenting on BBC Breakfast, and often setting the world to rights.
The 45-year-old joined the BBC in 2008, becoming one of Breakfast’s lead presenters in 2014, and is known for getting tough with political figures, most recently ripping into MP Ben Bradley over his tweets to Marcus Rashford over free school meals.
However, Naga’s social media shows a side of her many don’t get to see on TV – from her obsession with golf and love of fitness to her home life, including her adorable cats.
The presenter often shares parts of her life with fans on the internet over on Instagram (@TVNaga), giving followers a glimpse into how she spends her time when she’s not dishing up the morning’s news.
Naga has been married to her husband James Haggar since 2007, with the star occasionally sharing photos of the pair of them together.
One appearance from James came last year, when the presenter shared a fun snap of her hubby lounging over her and her friends’ laps.
Other snaps show Naga and her husband enjoying golfing matches together, with the star previously opening up about their shared interest.
‘James and I are both golfers, and I think it’s great for our relationship,’ she told The Guardian in 2016.
‘It gives us a few hours together when we’re walking and talking and catching up; it really makes a difference. Golf takes you on a journey together, and it means you stay in touch with one another.’
Naga has also been open about her and James’ decision not to have children, explaining to BBC Radio Five Live: ‘I remember when I told someone that I had decided I didn’t want children, someone told me I was wicked.
‘Wicked against my mother for denying her grandchildren. It’s quite interesting, isn’t it, how people react?’
She added: ‘I think people find it unusual that both in the relationship have agreed or decided or come to the conclusion that they don’t want children.’
Even in some of her first Instagram snaps, from four years ago, Naga was putting us all to shame with her love for fitness.
Her second ever public photo on the platform shows her hoisting her bike above her head after casually cycling 271 miles from London to Paris, describing it as the ‘toughest thing’ she’s ever done.
Other snaps show her getting her fitness fix by swimming and, more recently, she’s been enjoying running, motivating us all as she gets on with her 5k stints without complaint.
In one recent post, she shared a photo of herself looking a little worn out, encouraging fans to ‘be your best self’.
In another, she revealed that she sometimes fits in a run before work – so we dread to think what time she’s getting up in the morning!
It might surprise some viewers to know that Naga is absolutely mad about golf.
A huge amount of her Insta snaps show her heading off to the greens, with the star continuing to find joy in the sport throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
Recently, she shared a photo of three of her pals and herself, writing in the caption: ‘Well that was fun! Enjoying a fabulous day of socially distanced ⛳?️♀️?️♂️ There were 3 winners and 1 loser… Guess who? ???.’
And she’s clearly not afraid to have fun with it, posting a photo of herself and her girl squad dressed up as zebras, posing in front of a giant version of the animal as they enjoyed a themed golf session.
Although she plays some games for fun, it seems she can get pretty competitive, sharing earlier this year that she’d won back her Club Champion trophy at Batchworth Park Golf Club.
Smiling with the cup, she wrote: ‘Toughest 2 days of golf for me for a long time. Am So Chuffed. Job done.’
Doting cat owner
Naga often blesses us with snaps of her sweet cats, including 14-year-old Missy.
One recent post shows the adorable pet lazing around, with Naga pointing out: ‘How to relax on a Saturday afternoon ?’.

So this is how we left post-op Bella when we went to buy food (yes, essentials) this morning. Then when we found her after attemptingto escape the 'Cone of shame'… And the bin that she knocked over while trying to dismantle the cat flap… I can safely say that @jameshaggar09 and I are not in her good books…???
She, like many of us, has also had a lot more time to spend with her pets during the coronavirus pandemic, writing on Instagram earlier this year: ‘I think our cats are enjoying us being at home more…
‘They are physically distanced, not stressed about ‘filling’ their time – and making sure they rest a lot! Officially my gurus for the coming weeks.’
BBC Breakfast airs every day at 6am.
