Jeremih’s family have released a statement urging fans to take coronavirus seriously, while sharing an update on the singer’s condition.
Jeremih – real name Jeremy Phillip Felton – is currently in intensive care and using a ventilator to help him breathe, as he fights Covid-19.
CNN reports that the artist’s family have said that while he is making progress, he ‘isn’t out of the woods yet’, as his body continues to battle severe complications from the virus.
In a statement, they revealed that the virus has ‘viciously attacked Jeremih’s body’ and the complications he is now experiencing are ‘rare for a young man his age without underlying conditions’.
Urging others to take precautions, the statement read: ‘His family would like to remind the world that Covid-19 is real and not to be taken lightly.
‘Also, it’s important for people infected to quarantine and let their families and friends know ASPA. There’s no shame in contracting Covid-19 and people that have it need to be responsible and considerate of others.’
Jeremih’s family asked for fans to continuing praying for the star, while stating they are ‘very grateful’ for those doing so.
‘The family believes daily prayers to God. A great team of doctors and nurses is helping him pull through,’ the statement continued.
‘He’s not out of the woods yet, but progress is being made. The family and friends are praying that he starts breathing on his own soon, and makes a full recovery.’
It comes after 50 Cent was seen updating fans on Jeremih’s condition, with the rapper insisting his pal is ‘doing a little better’.
50 wrote in an Instagram post: ‘Thank you for ?? praying for my Boy @jeremih he is responsive today, doing a little better.’
Jeremih is best known for tracks such as Don’t Tell Em, Birthday Sex and Down On Me.
