Jessica Simpson has revealed why she’s banished the scales from her home as she no longer chooses to focus on her weight.

The 40-year-old musician opened up about the decision during a chat with Hoda Kotb on Today as the host stated: ‘You tossed that scale out, you threw it away.’

‘I threw it out,’ Jessica confirmed.

Hoda responded: ‘You said it was, like, a Ouija board in church, bye-bye.’

Jessica then explained her current approach to wellness as she continued: ‘I have no idea how much I weigh. Like, I just want to feel good and be able to zip my pants up.

‘If I don’t, I have another size. I have every size… I’ve really tried my hardest to not let that define me.’

The mother-of-three previously opened up about her experience with plastic surgery – which saw her suffer serious complications.

The star had given birth to two children – Maxwell, eight, and Ace, seven – by 2015 and was left with stretch marks and excess skin due to her fluctuating weight.

In her memoir Open Book, Jessica explained she felt insecure about her body and it was impacting her sex life with husband Eric Johnson because she didn’t want to be intimate without a t-shirt on.

As a 35th birthday to herself, Jessica decided to undergo a partial tummy tuck in 2015.

The With You singer was two weeks away from the surgery when a doctor advised her not to go through with the procedure due to concerns with her liver levels, warning that she ‘could die’.

But Jessica, who is also mother to two-year-old daughter Birdie, decided to ‘disregard’ what the doctor told her and keep the surgery date.

However, the reality star wasn’t satisfied with the results and later went ahead with a full tummy tuck.

There were complications during the surgery and Jessica was taken to hospital where she spent nine days.

‘I got an infection – colitis – and was vomiting so much I thought I was going to bust my sutures,’ she said. ‘Doctors talked seriously about me needing a blood transfusion.’

She explained in the memoir: ‘I can tell you that plastic surgery does not cure what’s inside. Really, it’s about how you feel emotionally, and I was still just as hard on myself once those stitches were out. I still had work to do.’
