Kate Beckinsale’s admirers have expressed worry when she shared photos of herself in a hospital bed.
On Mother’s Day, the Underworld actress paid tribute to her mother, Judy Loe, in an Instagram post, calling her ‘amazing’.
However, a few photographs into her carousel of shots, the 50-year-old released photos of herself crying while apparently under medical treatment.
It’s unclear whether the photographs are fresh or old, with the celebrity wearing a giant black ribbon on her head.
One Instagram user called Mandy commented underneath the post: ‘Are you OK?Why are you in a hospital? Please get Well soon😢.’
Another named Paul also asked: ‘What on earth are you doing in hospital Kate?’
A fan called Melody also shared: ‘Such a sweet post for your Mama. I pray for your recovery, whatever it is you may be going through Kate. ❤️.’
In her caption, Kate wrote: ‘Happy birthday and UK Mother’s Day this last week to my incredible mother.’
She thanked ‘those that love us and support us’ when times are tough, adding: ‘And for looking after our dogs when we can’t, and lead us to remember happy things when we can’t.
‘And turn up when we are sick and sit with us . . And send balloons and check in and pull us out of wells with love.’
The Serendipity star concluded: ‘Thank you for loving us, those who do, and for the amazing, kindest Nick, and especially for my mother’s capacity for joy. It is so inspiring and beautiful.
‘Happy everything mama. Your fight for joy despite also welcoming tears is the experience of watching a warrior up close. I love you x.’
Kate and her family recently lost her stepfather, Roy Battersby, who had been married to her mother Judy since 1997.
‘I fought for you with everything I had. Oh Roy I am so sorry I lost,’ she wrote in tribute.
The actress lashed up at Bafta for not included Roy in the film awards’ in memoriam portion.
It was eventually revealed that he will be recognised at the television awards ceremony later this year.
Judy was married to Richard Beckinsale, Kate’s father, from 1977 until his death two years later.
