After welcoming her second child with husband Rio Ferdinand, Kate Ferdinand is ready to tell her birth story.
The TV personality, 32, and football legend, 44, welcomed their daughter Shae in July, joining their three-year-old son Cree and Rio’s children Lorenz, Tate, and Tia from his marriage to Rebecca Ellison.
Kate and Rio had a loss about a year ago and were left ‘devastated and heartbroken.’
Kate is now preparing to tell the tale of her daughter’s birth after a rocky start, posting a teaser of the emotional film on her Instagram page.
It starts with a scene of Kate at the hospital getting ready to meet her baby, with Rio dressed in medical garb and appearing eager and worried.
‘I could just see they felt there was something wrong,’ Kate explains as she cradles the infant after birth.
‘She’s not taking in the right amount of oxygen so she’s going to the special care unit.’
The video goes on to show Shae wrapped in cables and being held by hospital personnel, as well as Kate weeping as she hugs her.
‘You don’t ever think about the negatives,’ Rio adds. ‘You don’t think about what can go wrong. You don’t ever come into the hospital thinking that your first night is gonna be your baby alone on another ward.’
He speaks to the camera about how this has impacted their other children, adding: ‘The kids are saying “Where’s the pictures?” [of Shae], “Send us the pictures”, they’re all excited, you don’t want to send the first picture of the baby with all the wires.’
Kate then speaks to the camera, very upset, explaining how difficult the ordeal has been.
‘I’m being really strong but if I talk about it I’ll cry because I just want her here now,’ she says before the video fades to black.
The full story will be shared on Kate’s YouTube account Blended Community over the weekend after she was encouraged by her followers to talk about her birth experience.
‘Our special girl Shae🤍,’ she captioned the Instagram post.
‘After all your lovely messages of encouragement I’ve finally plucked up the courage and will be sharing our birth story on @blended new YouTube Channel over the weekend.
‘Please subscribe to blendedcommunity to watch. Oh it’s making me all teary just re watching this.’
The couple posted a charming black and white snapshot of their hands with Shae and her siblings to announce their upcoming birth.
