Kate Garraway has found her ‘happy place’ and admits she ‘can’t wait’ to share it with husband Derek Draper who was recently released from hospital.
The Good Morning Britain presenter is currently caring for Derek at home after he was finally discharged from intensive care after a year of fighting coronavirus and a subsequent coma.
These days, Kate is looking optimistically to the summer ahead and shared a photo of herself smiling while posing on a deck chair in her garden and wearing a flower crown.
She told her Instagram followers: ‘Happy @gardendayuk ! My garden is definitely my happy place & even though it’s not big or fancy I love being out there even if the weather isn’t perfect , because just being outside listening to the rain fall and the wind blow through the leaves is like therapy for me.’
Sharing her dreams for warm days with her husband, Kate added: ‘I can’t wait for Derek to get stronger so can get him outside too as know it’ll be good for him.’
‘Admittedly he may not want to wear a gorgeous blossom crown like me ! But I am loving it & going to wear it all day to celebrate #gardendayUK.
‘I would love to hear how you are celebrating your outside space today & what it means to you generally so do share! #thepowerofhope.’
Kate, 54, has transformed her London home to cater to Derek’s new complex needs, including turning the downstairs office into a bedroom for the former political lobbyist and renovating the bathroom into a wet room.
Last week, the TV presenter celebrated her book, The Power of Love, which was written about Derek’s health ordeal, going to number one after selling 22,394 copies.
Kate was also recently overjoyed when Derek, 53, remembered her birthday after she mentioned to him the night before that it was coming up.
He also engaged in small conversation, which included him asking her whether the dress she was wearing to work was new.
