Kerry Katona has recently struggled with her health, as an arthritic flare-up has rendered her ‘bed confined.’
The reality actress, 42, got some ‘rare’ time off work this week but was unable to utilise it how she desired.
Instead, Kerry’s body’shut down,’ leaving her in ‘agony.’
After 13 years of inexplicable persistent discomfort, the former Atomic Kitten vocalist received a diagnosis of arthritis in 2021.
Arthritis is a common ailment that causes pain and inflammation in joints, according to the NHS. It can affect people of various ages, including children.
Writing for her latest Ok! Magazine column, Kerry shared: ‘I’ve had a rare couple of days off work this week, but I’ve been bed bound.
‘I’m in agony with my back and my hips – I have arthritis in my hips.’
She continued: ‘I’ve suffered with the pain for a long time, but it’s been worse over the past few days.
‘It’s like my body knows I have time off work so it shuts down.’
The former is correct. A fellow I’m A Celeb contestant believes the flare-up was caused by her alays being ‘on the move’ and ‘running off adrenaline.’
‘But it’s been nice to have a bit of a break, despite the pain,’ she admitted, ahead of celebrating the King’s Coronation over the weekend.
Kerry is very candid with her internet fans and just revealed that she had hip arthritis.
She’s had to scale back her current exercise and weight loss regimens in order to manage her pain.
‘So, I’ve been out of action because I hurt my back and my hips. So I have arthritis in my hips. Bear with me,’ she said on Instagram last week.
‘Trying to do a workout, my hips are killing, so I’m not pushing it… I get these shooting pains in my legs like I’m getting an electric shock. And my god, it really really hurts.’
Kerry went on to say that she’d been in tears from agony while trying to workout since her joints are’really stiff.’
‘Imagine a fly, and you want to pull its wings off, that’s what I want you to do, pull my legs off, that’s the pain I’ve been feeling, it’s been horrendous. Horrendous. I had a massage, and I could not move. So I have literally stayed in bed,’ she explained further.
Kerry’s recent health problems stem from a diagnosis of lipoedema, which is defined as “an abnormal build-up of fat in your legs and sometimes arms.”
Lipoedema can also be excruciatingly painful; there is no cure, although symptoms can be controlled.
The mother of five started a new fitness routine in an attempt to lose the ‘fatty lumps’ all over her body, but lipoedema fat is considerably more obstinate than typical fat and will not respond to diet or exercise.
Kerry, on the other hand, has a positive attitude, and staying active is good for her lipoedema.
