Kerry Katona reveals daughter ‘idolises’ her fiance Ryan Mahoney after dad George Kay’s death

Kerry Katona has been sharing memories of her ex George Kay with their daughter to ensure the youngster remembers him as she grows up.

George died in July 2019 at the age of 39 following a drug overdose. His daughter Dylan-Jorge, who he shared with Kerry, was just a toddler at the time of his death.

According to Kerry, DJ has developed a close bond with her fiance Ryan Mahoney which means she’s even more intent on keeping George’s memory alive.

‘DJ was hard to win over at first, she was only three when Ryan came into her life and she’d lost her daddy,’ Kerry told Closer magazine.

‘We sit and talk to her about George and tell her stories. She clings to Ryan now and idolises him.’

Kerry, 40, revealed how she struggled with coming to terms with George’s death but was able to lean on Ryan.

She explained: ‘Ryan held me in his arms. I was having a nervous breakdown and my doctor had to come out. I had so many mixed emotions but he was supportive.’

The former Atomic Kitten singer began dating George in 2012 and they married in September 2014, five months after she gave birth to their only child together, Dylan-Jorge.

However, their relationship became turbulent and in October 2015, she confirmed they had split with allegations that he had assaulted her.

George was arrested by police but charges were later dropped due to lack of evidence.

In 2017 they split for good, with a source claiming tensions had ‘reached breaking point’ and ‘it all came to head when George told Kerry that he was tired of acting as a nanny to her kids’.

Kerry and Ryan’s relationship has been going strong and they got engaged in August 2020 after two years of dating.
