Khloe Kardashian has defended her attempts to remove a leaked and unedited photo of herself from the internet while opening up about the impact of having her appearance scrutinised and compared to her famous sisters.

Alongside videos of her toned physique, Khloe, 36, explained that she feels constant ‘pressure’ to keep up with the ‘impossible standards’ of beauty that have been set for her as a celebrity.

‘As someone who has struggled with body image her whole life, when someone takes a photo of you that isn’t flattering in bad lighting or doesn’t capture your body the way it is after working so hard to get it to this point – and then shares it to the world – you should have every right to ask for it to not be shared – regardless of who you are,’ she explained.

‘In truth, the pressure, constant ridicule and judgment my entire life to be perfect and to meet other’s standards of how I should look has been too much to bear.’

It’s not the first time the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star has spoken out about her insecurities as she has detailed her body image battles for as long as she’s been in the spotlight.

2015: Khloe Kardashian on being compared to her sisters Kim and Kourtney

Khloe released her book, Strong Looks Better Naked, in November 2015.

In an interview with People to promote the release, Khloe said that she was ‘always chubby’ while growing up.

‘My girlfriends were always running around in two-pieces and I never felt comfortable to do that,’ she explained.

Referring to her older sisters Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Khloe went on: ‘I knew I didn’t look like my sisters and I didn’t have those shapes, but I didn’t think that was wrong. I had parents who were incredibly loving and nurturing and always made me feel beautiful so I never really questioned that.’

She added: ‘Being compared to my sisters was something I was used to. But being compared in such a harsh way I just thought, “Okay, that’s my role”. So I started saying it before people. I was like, “Okay, I’m the fat, funny sister. Who cares?” I almost let that take ownership of me. [In reality] I wasn’t fat; I wasn’t obese. But I would let society make me believe that I was.’

2016: Khloe Kardashian on realistic bodies

Praising the likes of model Ashley Graham for owning their natural figures, the Revenge Body star told Health.com: ‘I love that pop culture now has realistic body images for women to look up to, especially for kids.’

2016: Khloe Kardashian on Photoshopping her social media photos

With full transparency, Khloe confessed to enhancing her Instagram photos and wasn’t sorry about it.

Chatting to Chelsea Handler, she revealed: ‘Facetune is the best thing to bring to the table. It’s life-changing. It’s the only way to live. … It’s not real, you are presenting to the world what you want them to believe you are. It’s amazing.

‘I think our society nowadays is so caught up on getting validation from the social world that no one really knows, so they post these things.’

2017: Khloe Kardashian on being fat-shamed by her high school teacher

The TV star explained that she was set to embark on a favourite to condemn each other and even then it would have seemed to be on there given it was all for it and then some.

The TV star revealed an uncomfortable encounter she had with a teacher in her early teens.

Speaking to the Daily Mail’s You Magazine, Khloe said: ‘I experienced body shaming in high school. My sisters and I went to a girls’ private school and when I started, aged 13, the teacher read my name and said, “Khloé Kardashian… Are you related to Kourtney and Kim?” I said, “Yes, they’re my sisters”. She said, “Are you sure?”’

‘She never said I was fat, but I knew she was referring to my size. Words are the best weapon we have; they cut the deepest and they last forever.’

2017: Khloe Kardashian reveals her biggest insecurity about her body

Khloe bravely revealed the biggest hang-up about her body and told Your Fitness in 2017: ‘I was always told that I could never be a certain size or that I could never look a certain way and that really got to me.

‘I started to believe what everybody else told me. But then one day something inside of me didn’t want to be defined by somebody else’s perception or vision of me.’

She then admitted: ‘My arms used to be my biggest insecurity on my body. They would never tone up and they were mushy and fat with absolutely no structure.

‘Now I have defined arms and it’s almost like my trophy that I’m allowed to show off. It sounds silly but I’ve worked so hard on being able to feel comfortable wearing a T-shirt or tank top.’

2021: Khloe Kardashian addresses her ‘changing face’

Khloe fell under scrutiny over a social media photo which led to many suggesting she’d had cosmetic surgery.

When one social media user asked: ‘Why do you look so different in all your photos?’

Khloe replied: ‘From my weekly face transplant clearly.’

A few weeks later, she then opened up on the impact of the online abuse, stating: ‘I don’t want anyone to kiss my ass. I’m not asking for that. But what I am asking for is for people to realise just what [comments] like this does to someone’s soul and confidence.

‘I am so very grateful and appreciative of anyone who stands up to bullying… Defending someone, Especially when we don’t know one another makes me [sic] heart happy. That’s the person I am.’
