Laura Anderson had a terrible delivery, with a hazardous haemorrhage, as she welcomed her baby daughter.
After meeting on Celebs Go Dating, the reality actress, 34, and her ex, Hollyoaks actor Gary Lucy, 41, had their first child together in September.
Laura announced the arrival of her daughter Bonnie by stating she was ‘glad and in love,’ but it was a trying journey for Laura, who earlier claimed she was suffering from bruises and mastitis.
Now, the Love Island actress has spoken up about her pregnancy, claiming it was ‘horrendous’ and at times’mentally excruciating.’
On Tuesday, she went vegan, revealing how she had ‘four sweeps’ to induce labour before having a horrific balloon induction that left her unable to walk.
The TV personality eventually chose hormone induction and went into labour instantly, but the contractions lasted 12 hours before she was ultimately four centimetres dilated and sent to the delivery department.
Laura said it was ‘mentally quite torturous’ to be in labour for so long with no pain relief – but things started moving too quickly after that, as reported by The Sun.
She told how she started bleeding in the labour ward and progressed from four to nine centimetres dilated in an hour, using gas and air for pain relief – but it didn’t work because she was breathing in too rapidly.
Despite her anguish, Laura claimed she was ’embarrassed’ to be making too much noise or being perceived as ‘over dramatic,’ and repeatedly apologised before screaming for an epidural.
Unfortunately, she was informed at nine centimetres that she was too far gone for an epidural to work and was offered various pain medication – but when none of them worked, she was ultimately given the injection, which she described as ‘the finest thing ever.’
‘So then I pushed her out, couldn’t feel anything,’ Laura regaled her followers.
‘They were like “push from your bum,” and I was like, “I can’t feel my bum.”‘
Laura’s recuperation was only beginning after she successfully welcomed Bonnie, as she suffered a terrible second-degree rip that required stitches.
‘Five hours later I had a haemorrhage,’ she revealed.
The incident happened while she was alone and trying to catch some sleep, when she ‘stood up and lost loads of blood.
‘Like loads of clots and I felt really, really faint. I couldn’t reach the buzzer and I don’t know if I shouted but someone came in.’
Recalling the terrifying experience, she went on: ‘I just stayed calm because I thought, “I’ve got everybody around me that needs to be here, doing everything they can.”
‘So I am a bit better in emergencies like that than like smaller things, if I stub my toe it’s the end of the world,’ she joked.
The new mum lost a total of 1.6 litres of blood, admitting it was ‘scary’ – but ‘it’s all worth it and I would do it again.’
That said, she had advice for any mums-to-be: ‘Don’t be the hero. Get the epidural at 4cm.’
Laura had previously showed some terrible bruises on her arm while joking about the ‘glamorous life of post-partum.’
In her message, the Love Island actress also stated that she is eager to see her pals but that there are “not enough hours in the day.”
Her family, it appears, has yet to visit, since she noted sadly that ‘everyone has Covid.’
In terms of other parts of her health, Laura said that she has mastitis ‘already’ and was getting antibiotics to address it.
Mastitis is an infection-related inflammation of the breast tissue.
