Laura Whitmore has confirmed the lovely news that she and Iain Stirling did secretly marry following recent reports of their wedding.
The Love Island stars are currently expecting their first baby after Laura, 35, announced the news in December.
Now the couple have started 2021 by sharing details of their wedding for the first time on NYE.
In an Instagram post, Laura shared a wedding photo showing that she opted for a trendy white suit including white-legged trousers and chunky gold platform heels. Iain, 32, looked dapper in a black suit and tie.
Laura explained in the caption: ‘A year ago Iain asked me to marry him and we had the most magical, perfect ceremony. We loved having it to ourselves.
‘We had been planning the perfect celebration and I will forever be so thankful that’s what we got. We have never spoken publicly about our engagement or wedding. Back at the time we never felt the need to say anything as it’s all such a personal experience.’
She continued: ‘We also were too busy enjoying it! We’ve never shared this picture before now but a lot of people have contacted us and congratulated us the last month with good intentions so here’s to good news!… sending love to you and yours and here’s to 2021! Happy new year everyone! Wishing you all the love.’
Iain jokingly commented on the post: ‘Not even tagged…’
TV presenter Gaby Roslin said: ‘LOVE AND HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to you both.’
Celebrity Juice star Emily Atack praised: ‘Legends ❤️❤️❤️.’
Former Strictly winner Ore Oduba weighed in: ‘It’s a corker of a pic tho!!!! 2021 has even more amazement in store for you guys…. so much love for the 4 of you ❤️❤️❤️?❤️.’
It was recently reported that the couple tied the knot at Dublin’s City Hall in November with their siblings acting as witnesses, while there were reportedly 25 guests due to coronavirus pandemic restrictions.
Laura and Iain announced they were expecting their first child last month with a cute photo of a babygrow in an Instagram post.
‘So I’ve always tried to be protective over the personal side of my life,’ Laura began.
She continued: ‘A lot of things are just for me and my loved ones and we’ve chosen not to share publicly. However I want to now share good news as it’s our news to share – and I’m gonna be honest it’s starting to look like my lock down beer belly is out of control.
‘Iain and I are expecting a baby early 2021.
‘It’s been hard to keep such happy news quiet. Especially the times when I’ve had to run out of live radio to get sick in a bin or my penchant for a bowl of mashed potato in the morning. I wasn’t hungover like everyone thought. In fact I was completely sober filming the entire series of Celeb Juice, which is quite the accolade!’
Days later, the TV presenter was forced to hit back at trolls who criticised her for sharing photos of her baby bump on social media.
Laura and Iain began dating in the summer of 2017 after meeting through mutual friends, and had their first date at a comedy show followed by a trip to the pub.
In late 2018, the couple moved in together in a house in north London, and in January, Laura joined her man on Love Island, as she replaced Caroline Flack, who died in February, for the winter series.
