Laura Whitmore has confirmed she is expecting a baby girl with husband Iain Stirling.
Earlier today, the Love Island host corrected Lorraine Kelly when the TV host suggested that she was expecting a daughter.
After Lorraine said that Laura’s new book, No One Can Change Your Life Except For You, contained advice ‘that you want to pass on to your baby girl’, the 35-year-old responded: ‘Well.. to my baby.’
However, in an excerpt from her book published by the Irish Independent, Laura talks about the ‘baby girl currently growing inside me’.
Laura wrote: ‘There’s a new chapter coming in my life in the form of a baby girl currently growing inside me. And that scares the s*** out of me.’
She added: ‘She will be supported and loved but she is the heroine of her own life, no-one else. We aren’t built to have it all figured out.
‘Imagine how boring a tale that would be! But we have the tools and capabilities to get through anything.’
The Irish star had previously shared that she and Iain knew the sex of their child, telling Hunger magazine: ‘We found out [the sex] quite early because they can do a test called a Harmony test, which basically looks out for things that could be possibly wrong with your baby and I think, like most expectant parents, we were quite anxious and worried so we did that and they were like “do you want to find out the sex” and it was like “what!?” so we found out quite early.
‘For me it wasn’t about the sex, it was just about whether the baby was OK.’
Laura and Iain, 33, are due to welcome their baby girl this month, after announcing that they were expecting when Laura was already six months pregnant.
The couple managed to keep the news under wraps, as well as their wedding, after secretly tying the knot in November in Dublin.
Laura announced that she was pregnant by sharing a picture of a Guns ’N’ Roses babygro and writing: ‘So I’ve always tried to be protective over the personal side of my life. A lot of things are just for me and my loved ones and we’ve chosen not to share publicly. However I want to now share good news as it’s our news to share – and I’m gonna be honest it’s starting to look like my lock down beer belly is out of control. Iain and I are expecting a baby early 2021.
‘It’s been hard to keep such happy news quiet. Especially the times when I’ve had to run out of live radio to get sick in a bin or my penchant for a bowl of mashed potato in the morning. I wasn’t hungover like everyone thought. In fact I was completely sober filming the entire series of Celeb Juice, which is quite the accolade!
‘We’d appreciate our privacy respected but just wanted to spread some love and a reminder of the beauty of life.’
After their little one enters the world, Laura and Iain will be rushed off their feet this summer as Love Island has been confirmed to return to ITV2.
Scottish comedian Iain has narrated the show for all six series so far, while Laura replaced the late Caroline Flack as host for last year’s winter edition.
