Lil Nas X has shot down people who sexualised his latest video with James Charles.
The Old Town Road rapper called out Twitter users who left sexual and homophobic comments underneath a post about James’s latest video, in which he did Lil Nas X’s make-up.
The Twitter account Pop Crave tweeted screenshots from the pair’s Instagram stories, writing: ‘James Charles & Lil Nas X tease YouTube collaboration video dropping today.’
While many fans expressed their excitement for the video, others left cruel comments about both Lil Nas X and James being gay men.
One comment read: ‘I just know they f***ed after this’, with others speculating about their relationship.
However, Lil Nas X wasn’t standing for it, as he tweeted: ‘2 gay men can do things together without y’all sexualizing it.’
The stars joked about the speculation about their relationship in the video, as James, 21, gave Lil Nas X a futuristic makeover with silver eyeshadow.
The make-up artist said: ‘I remember when you first came out of the closet too. I remember tweeting you to be like, “Oh my god, congratulations!” And everyone was like he’s not gonna f*** you.’
Lil Nas X, also 21, replied: ‘I’m dead. Let’s keep that in the video.’
The rapper came out as gay at the end of Pride Month last year, despite initially ‘planning to die with the secret’.
Now, he ‘100% wants to represent the LGBT community’ and is one of music’s most beloved red carpet staples thanks to his colourful fashion choices.
And he isn’t about to tone down his image, as evidenced by his response to Republican Angela Stanton King on Twitter.
The failed congressional candidate shared a promo image of Lil Nas X preparing to kiss himself under the mistletoe, and tweeted: ‘So this is what black culture is pushing to our youth now? Sex with everything and everyone including yourself? Is lil nas x tonguing himself down?’
Lil Nas X, who has just dropped his festive single Holiday, expertly fired back: ‘Just say ur turned on and go.’
