Lil Uzi Vert appears to have once again defended his decision to get a $24 million (£17.4 million) diamond implanted into his forehead.
Naturally, the XO Tour Llif3 rapper made headlines this week thanks to his jaw-dropping piercing as critics react in shock to risky body modification.
However, Lil Uzi – who is known for his extravagant jewelry purchases – clearly had no regrets about his decision as revealed by his latest tweet.
‘THIS IS FASHION,’ he wrote alongside the rolling eyes emoji and the two hearts emoji.
The Way Life Goes rapper – real name Symere Bisil Woods – first revealed his plans for the face diamond after informing his social media followers: ‘I’ve been paying for a natural pink diamond from Elliot for years now,’ in reference to celebrity jeweler Eliott Eliantte.
‘This one Stone cost so much I’ve been paying for it since 2017. That was the first time I saw a real natural pink diamond. A lot of M’s in my face.’
Lil Uzi then retweeted a post that said the pink diamond was worth $24 million and was between 10-11 carats.
Seemingly confirming the price tag, the That Way hitmaker added that the cost was more than ‘all my cars together, plus home’.
‘Yes my Bugatti can’t even pay for it … all my cars together, plus home, this took so long now I can get this money,’ he said.
This week saw the 26-year-old rapper followed through on his claims and unveil the bold face piercing on his Instagram.
As for why Lil Uzi would want such a prominent piercing, he replied to a fan on Twitter: ‘If I lose the ring yeah U will make fun of me more than putting it in my forehead ha ha jokes on you ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha… And yes I do have insurance.’
Needless to say, Lil Uzi’s new piercing garnered quite a strong reaction from fans and critics alike.
Lil Uzi rose to fame in 2016 with the song Money Longer and later featured on Migos’ smash hit single Bad and Boujee.
He’s released two albums, both reaching number one on the Billboard 200 chart, and was nominated for best new artist at the Grammys in 2018.
