Lily Allen has admitted that she never used to enjoy having sex and her orgasms would be ‘performative’ rather than for her own enjoyment.
The Smile hit-maker, 35, who is bringing out her own line of sex toys, has got real honest about getting down and dirty in the bedroom in a new interview – even recalling her first orgasm.
Opening up to The Sunday Times, Lily revealed that she gave herself her first orgasm with a vibrator while away on tour, after coming to the realisation that sex for her had previously been ‘performative’, instead of her actually kicking back and enjoying herself.
Sex has been something she has been pretty vocal about in the past, especially in her track Not Fair – although Lily admits she now looks back at the song and thinks it’s ‘bullsh*t’.
‘There was me, really saying some some bullsh*t. That song I wrote, Not Fair, about a guy not being able to make me come, and I couldn’t even make myself come,’ she told the paper.
‘I was just like, “What’s a ballsy girl supposed to do? Be fearless and anti men,” but it wasn’t how I was feeling or who I was at all.’
She admits that sex used to be ‘not really about my own enjoyment,’ explaining: ‘But that’s not really unusual and, also, it’s not just related to sex.’
‘It’s something that happens as a pattern of behaviour in all areas of my life,’ Lily said, revealing that for as long as she can remember she’s ‘entered into situations that are not about me and making me happy – just about doing what I think should be done.’
Lily’s comments came as she faced backlash for openly discussing her sex life and masturbation.
However, her husband, Stranger Things star David Habour, was quick to defend her and publicly support her new venture, that has seen Lily partner with Womanizer to bring out her own vibrator called the Liberty.
‘I’m getting my wife one. Because of archaic idiotic ‘norms’, sex positivity and female pleasure seems hard to discuss in polite society. Dumb,’ he wrote on Instagram.
‘Have fun out there. You won’t go blind, I promise, cause believe me, from my vast rich history with self love, I know from whence I insta-caption.’
Lily also discussed the idea of having more children, now she is feeling broody again after marrying Stranger Things David Harbour.
The singer is already mum to daughters Ethel, eight, and Marnie, seven, from her previous marriage to ex-husband Sam Cooper, but as her kids get older she is tempted to add to her brood.
‘I think so, especially now Marnie’s getting so big. It’s like, “no, my babies,” I do [like having kids around]. I miss little terrors running around the house.’
