Linda Nolan has paid tribute to her late sister Bernie on what would have been her 60th birthday.
Barnie, the second youngest sister in the Nolan family, died at the age of 52 in July 2013 after battling cancer which had spread to her brain, lungs, liver and bones.
Taking to Twitter, Linda – who herself is battling liver cancer – shared a throwback snap of the two alongside each other, as they flashed a smile for the camera.
‘Happy 60th Birthday Bernie… What a party it would have been, my little sister joining the 60s club!’ she wrote.
‘Not a day goes by when I don’t think of you and miss you. My heart aches just to hug you one more time and to hear your voice.
‘Until we meet again, I love you so much.’
The singer later encouraged her followers to raise a glass to Bernie to mark her birthday, as she shared a picture of alcoholic drinks alongside a chocolate birthday cake and cupcakes.
‘All ready to celebrate Bernie’s 60th,’ she tweeted. ‘Don’t forget to have a drink (specifically a Moscow Mule) and tweet us your pictures.
Linda has often spoken about how much she misses her younger sister, explaining during an appearance on Good Morning Britain in September: ‘We miss Bernie every single day.
‘I don’t think we’ll ever get over it. The first time I looked in the mirror when I had my head shaved, I saw Bernie looking back at me.’
Linda, 61, and her sister Anne, 69, confirmed in August that they are both battling cancer, and were undergoing chemotherapy at Victoria Hospital in Blackpool.
The siblings had received the heartbreaking news of their diagnosis within days of each other, shortly after they finished filming for their TV series The Nolans Go Cruising in March.
A tweet from The Nolans’ account confirmed: ‘For the past few months during lockdown, Linda and Anne have been battling cancer & chemotherapy together…
‘We will get this through together, as a family.’
Linda previously battled breast cancer in 2006, cellulitis and lymphoedema in her arm back in 2017, and secondary cancer on her pelvis that same year.
Anne had beaten breast cancer 20 years ago, and was told that the grade three lump in her breast was a new cancer.
Anne and Linda both found fame as part of the Nolan sisters alongside their siblings Maureen, 66, and Coleen, 55.
