Louise Thompson has further detailed her experience with PTSD following the traumatic birth of her son Leo-Hunter, as she reflected on her ‘road to recovery’ after a tough week that saw her ‘cry about 20 times’.

The former Made in Chelsea star, 31, was in hospital for five weeks following Leo’s birth, after facing ‘various serious complications’, and has been open about her mental health on Instagram since, including her struggles with PTSD and ‘depressive panic episodes’.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Louise gave her followers an update on her recovery back at home with her baby and fiancé Ryan Libbey, revealing that she was ‘starting to make sense’ of her anxiety.

The new mum shared a photo of herself wrapped up warm in a grey hat, beige scarf and brown suede coat, leaning on her son’s green buggy.

She wrote: ‘60,000 thoughts passing through my head each day. If I can try and get 30,001 of them to be non anxious thoughts then I am sort of winning. Honestly I’ve never known anxiety like it. It feels inexplicable. But it’s not, and I’m starting to make sense of it.’

She then thanked her fans and followers for their support, continuing: ‘I want to say a big thank you to everyone for the outpouring of love, your kind words, your cards, flowers, gifts and your super supportive/constructive messages… most of all I want to thank you for being so patient, sorry if I’m being slow.

‘The days are moving strangely quickly and I can’t seem to get much done. Even thinking about that sends me into a bit of a panic. I don’t know whether I want to speed up the healing, or slow down the precious moments.

‘Unfortunately this week hasn’t been as easy as last week, but like any ‘transformation’ I know it won’t be linear, instead my road to recovery will take the form of a jagged line… much like my fitness transformation all those years ago.’

The star then went on to list some of the positive experiences she’s had recently, including managing to go out for a meal with Ryan and Leo, sharing a photo of her partner across the table from her and the fish and chips she ordered.

Starting her list of 10 positives, which she revealed she writes down every day, although she finds ‘talking helps me more’, Louise began: ‘This week I managed to talk myself out of the ‘I’m going to die’ mentality a few times without medical help. Having more awareness of what is going on in my head massively helps to calm me down.

‘I also tell myself that I can review my physical symptoms in 24 hours which is a good habit to practise because by the time the 24 hour period is up I’ll have survived.’

The influencer also included attending an appointment on her own, going for a walk with her dogs and her surgery scar healing.

Revealing that she had stopped ‘googling when I feel triggered’, the new mum joked: ‘Willpower 101.’

She then finished: ‘8. I’ve stopped measuring my temperature and blood pressure and heart rate and anything else that I can track. 9. I got 8 hours of sleep last night and even had some dreams (exceptionally weird ones as Ptsd [sic] can drudge up strange things from the past).’

As a comment on her post, Louise then added her tenth positive shortly after: ‘Oh I forgot to mention I’ve cried about 20 times this week which makes me feel so much better and I feel that every cry is a huge achievement because it means I’m not bottling anything up.’

Earlier this week, Ryan, also 31, urged people to ‘hold on tight to the people you love’ as he said that the last few months ‘have tested me in more ways than I could have ever imagined’.

The fitness trainer also shared that he had learned a lot ‘about myself, about life, about what really matters’.
