Love Island star Amber Gill admits dating in lockdown ‘doesn’t exist’ and hopes to date non-celebrity

Being in the spotlight, you’d assume Amber Gill would have an easy ride when it comes to dating even in lockdown but it might be reassuring to know the reality star has faced the same struggles as other singletons over the past year.

The Love Island star’s last high profile romance was with law student Greg O’Shea who she won the ITV2 dating show with in 2019.

However, they weren’t compatible after all and split a few months after leaving the villa.

Since then, Amber’s kept her love life mostly under wraps but reveals it’s been hard to get to know someone new in lockdown.

‘There’s been no such thing as dating in lockdown, it’s kind of tough,’ Amber told Metro.co.uk exclusively to mark the launch of her new fitness platform Amber Flexx.

‘I don’t even see my family let alone anyone else and I’ve just really been focused on getting this platform sorted as well and working out and becoming a better version of myself.

‘So [those are] the most important points that have come out of lockdown for me.’

With the new year comes fresh opportunities and Amber, 23, says she hasn’t completely written off dating.

Amber explained: ‘I’m always open to it, I’ve never written definitely like this is what I want but I’m just open to it. I never like to close myself off to anything and never say never. I might have a boyfriend next year, who knows. It’s got to be the right person. They might not come along in 2021, who knows.’

The TV star is unlikely to date another person in the spotlight and would rather someone who isn’t accustomed to the life of fame.

‘I would probably prefer that because I’m quite private, I just get on with my day and I’m just normal,’ Amber admitted.

She added: ‘So it probably would make sense to me to just be with somebody not in the public eye.’

It comes after reports that Amber had struck up a romantic connection with her personal trainer Jon Hosking but clearly their relationship is professional only.
