The Irish star had been studying a law degree prior to appearing on the ITV2 dating show in 2019, which he later went on to win with his now ex-girlfriend Amber Gill.
Following the show, Greg has been back in Ireland and while his Instagram followers may have jumped to 1.1million, he’s more interested in playing rugby than he is being in the spotlight.
So much so, that he’s made like Kim Kardashian, who is studying to take that all important bar exam in 2022, and turned his attentions back to studying in a bid to complete his law exams.
After months of being holed up in front of his books, Greg revealed that he has now submitted his last law exam and he seemed pretty delighted about it.
‘I just submitted my last exam and I’m done. Oh my god, I cannot believe I’m finished, these last couple of months have been the hardest couple of months in my life and I hate complaining, but this challenge has been ridiculous,’ he told fans in a new video.
‘I’ve played in front of 10s of 1000s of people, I’ve been on TV shows in front of millions of people and this is easily the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do these law exams.’
Despite all his efforts, Greg confessed that he’s not actually sure if he wants to pursue being a solicitor right now, but he had committed to studying law and wanted to see it through.
‘I don’t even need them, I don’t really want to be a solicitor right now in my life but I said I’d do the exams, I’ve done the work, I don’t know if I’ve passed but I tried my absolute best, there’s nothing else I could have done,’ Greg said.
‘I haven’t seen my friends in weeks, I haven’t seen my family in weeks, I haven’t got a hug or kiss or anything like that in months, I kept up my work, I kept up my training, I did these exams, but at least I tried,’ he continued.
‘And hopefully this influences someone to go out there and try something and challenge themselves. I can’t believe I’m done.’
Greg first found fame on Love Island over a year ago, when he entered the villa as a late arrival just weeks before the final. He coupled up with Amber and won over fans for calling out Michael Griffiths for the way he had treated her, with Amber and Greg going on to win the show and splitting the £50,000 prize money.
Their relationship lasted just a month on the outside, however, and the pair quickly called it quits, with Greg saying long distance – he’s based in Ireland while Amber is in Newcastle – had put a strain on their relationship.
Amber claimed Greg had dumped her via text – something he has denied doing.
Speaking of their break up, Amber said she was ‘disappointed’ in Greg and called their break up a ‘blessing in disguise’.
‘I think in the future I’ll look back on this as a blessing in disguise. I can focus on work and spending time with my family and friends,’ she told Fabulous magazine.
