Lucy Mecklenburgh fires back at online trolls who claim her body ‘isn’t realistic’ ten months after giving birth to son Roman

Lucy Mecklenburgh has hit back at comments online claiming she had an ‘unrealistic post-natal body’ after welcoming son Roman.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star and boyfriend Ryan Thomas had their first child together in March last year.

The new mum told her fans on Instagram that she is learning to be ‘kinder’ to her body after giving birth.

She posted a picture of herself posing in a mirror wearing black underwear as she spoke about how she used to compare herself to others.

‘After having Roman I’m so much kinder to myself! I think why did I actually care that much & waste so much energy putting myself down! there’s so much more important things in my life to focus on than if I have abs or not,’ she wrote.

‘I’m so proud of my body for growing a child, repairing itself and & allowing me to be healthy & strong enough to look after my baby everyday.

‘We get one body so yes lets look after it by nourishing it, staying active but most importantly respecting it & being kind to ourselves.’

The majority of her followers praised her for being honest about her self-confidence, but there was – as ever – the odd troll who criticised how she looks now.

Lucy took to her Instagram Story to respond, insisting that she ‘loves food’.

She said: ‘For the odd negative comment saying I don’t eat & my body isn’t a realistic post natal body…

‘My body is a real postnatal body as I had a baby in March & this is my body now.

‘I LOVE food! More importantly I’m breastfeeding so I actually have to consume more calories to be able to feed my bubba everyday & have enough energy to run around after him all day.’

When asked by a fan how many calories she eats a day, the TV star said she ‘doesn’t count calories’.

Lucy also opened up about breastfeeding, revealing that she ‘felt lonely’ at first as no one she was close to had breastfed.

‘I’m quite stobborn tho so I was determind to continue even when it got tough & people told me to switch to formula,’ she wrote.

‘I found support elsewhere. All my family & friends respect my decision to continue & are proud of the commitment I made.’

Lucy and Ryan have been together since May 2017, and got engaged in June 2019.
