Martin Kemp has revealed his tastes don’t quite align with those of his wife as he took to Instagram to admit he keeps mistaking the handle of an ornamental box she’s bought a dog poo.

As you do.

The EastEnders star posted a video to the social media site to share his confusion with fans, and asked them to weigh in on his issue.

Speaking frankly into the camera while looking faintly horrified, the 60-year-old performer began: ‘Now guys, I have got a little bit of a dilemma because Shirlie has bought this box for the living room that sits on the coffee table – you put matches in it.’

He continued: ‘And you know what she’s like, she likes her pretty things.’

Getting to the crux of the issue, he then exclaimed: ‘But I think it looks like one of our dogs has pooed on top of it – I do! Every time I look ‘round I keep going to get a plastic bag to pick it up!’

After giving us all that delightful visual he then invited opinions, saying: ‘I mean see what you think, right. Have a look.’

The Spandau Ballet star then panned the camera around to reveal the box and the root of his disgust, and it’s fair to say you can sort of see where he’s coming from as the much darker and slightly rounded handle contrasts with the rest of the plain, light grey box.

For dramatic emphasis, the actor and singer then moved the camera back to his baffled face before zooming back in on the box’s handle again.

He captioned the video: ‘Has my dog pood [sic] on the coffee table box?????’

Martin had his followers cracking up in the comments, as one wrote: ‘I honestly laughed out loud when you showed it.’

Another fan added: ‘I totally agree with you Martin.’

‘Sorry Shirl I’m team Martin on this,’ commented one.

Martin has been married to Shirlie, a former backing singer for Wham! and star in her own right of Pepsi & Shirlie for 34 years, although there’s no word yet on her reaction to him making his disgust public…

He also appeared in a festive campaign for the NHS over Christmas as a twinkly Santa Claus, encouraging people to get vaccinated against Covid.
