Molly-Mae Hague has revealed she was at her ‘saddest’ following the shock death of her puppy Mr Chai, earlier this year.
The Love Island star’s boyfriend Tommy Fury had given the Pomeranian pup to Molly for her 21st birthday, but the dog sadly died just six days after the couple had brought him home.
Mr Chai’s death left Molly and Tommy ‘utterly heartbroken’, with the pair later revealing that the puppy had been suffering from a number of health complications and had suffered a seizure.
Taking part in the latest social media trend that sees celebs sharing photos of moments requested from fans, Molly was seen reflecting on losing Mr Chai.
She was asked to share a photo from when she was at her ‘saddest’ and Molly responded with videos of herself and Mr Chai from earlier this year.
The reality star told her followers that she was saddest when: ‘I found out my time with this baby was over. No pain like it.’
Mr Chai died in June after falling ill just days after Molly and Tommy had got him.
Opening up on his death in an emotional vlog Molly shared to her YouTube channel, the couple revealed that the puppy was battling a number of difficulties, including his skull not properly forming and a low count of white blood cells.
Molly said in the video: ‘Tommy literally threw up everywhere, and I just kept saying like: “It’s a prank”. We get prank called all the time and some sick person has found out Chai’s gone to the vet. It’s a prank, “No, your dog has died.”’
The couple also addressed backlash they had received backlash for deciding to buy their puppy from a seller who had brought the dog over from Russia and insisted that was not the reason Mr Chai had died, like some had suggested.
‘We’re not asking for any kind of sympathy. What’s happened is awful,’ Molly told fans. ‘I’m asking you to understand that the dog travelling from Russia is not the reason he died.’
Molly and Tommy have been dating for over a year now after first meeting on ITV2 dating series Love Island in 2019. They finished in second place on the show to eventual winners – and now exes – Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea.
Since then, the couple have moved in together in Manchester and are often seen talking about marriage and kids in the future.
